Gamedevs making political statements is basically my TL rn. 😭😭😭

@CodeRed_dev as they should, infact MORE game devs should make political statements, EVERY and i mean EVERY other entertainment media are allowed to express plotics in thier thier content or by the creators, but when it comes to game dev all of a sudden its bad

@CodeRed_dev I know how you feel. We're here to make games. If you want to make politics with your stuff you're free to do so just keep in mind people don't want to see that. My group want to make cartoons and make people happy

@CodeRed_dev Well we are all people and we have things we care about. I try to avoid talking politics on my page but there is no avoiding political topics in game dev in general. All (most) games are filled with political stuff, and that's normal for art.

@CodeRed_dev Obviously, the best middle-ground is to decide on 2 game projects you want to work on. If Democrats win, you make X game. If Republicans win, you make Y game. Now it's political in a way that doesn't suck. Maybe.

@CodeRed_dev It's fun but it also divides your player base. As an indie that's the last thing you'd want to do.

@CodeRed_dev As they should. Music has always been heavily intertwined with politics. Film has as well. Yet when gamedevs do it, everyone has a breakdown. It's insulting. It shows that people don't consider video games as a valid art form, and only as cheap entertainment.

@CodeRed_dev I have different accts for my gamedev stuff and my personal one which I am using right now. I don't see much political stuff on my Twitter alt, but my Bluesky is filled with political stuff. I think it's algo silliness.
