@HHSGov It’s not user friendly. At UPMC It’s a massive 83.6 MB file that one can’t just click and view on a phone.
Pay a bill: easy peasy
View prices: call the geek squad

@HHSGov @AwakenedOutlaw Or what? Who do we contact if they don’t?
English

@HHSGov The fines may not be large enough to end the status quo.
English

@HHSGov Ok so shall we start reporting on the hospitals that don’t?

Hospital received over $700 from my insurance for an out-patient procedure (ultrasound) that the state’s data indicates should only cost $120 (average is actually closer to $90, so I’m being generous). Not only did they receive the insurance payment, but they also had me pay an additional $500 because they charge what they justified as “hospital rates” not covered by Blue Cross —$1200 for a $100 procedure, or face collection activity.
This is obscene …

FYI- I went to the hospital for a double knee MRI and as I was checking in the woman I was with noticed something a new employee did and called back to that desk to correct her. Then another co-worker came in and they discussed what had happened because it was leading to a backup in the check-in line.
The thing that was getting done that the new employee was told not to do, and to come back to it and fill it in during lulls?
Going over expected charges with the patient.
We live in a smaller city with just 2 hospitals and I’m an unfortunate regular at this one and know these ladies so they had no problem talking about it in front of me.
It was all I could do not to say “aren’t you guys mandated to tell us all that now”? I also noticed a price sheet in my check-in papers with the barcode labels and everything. There’s never been one of those before and no one went over it with me, or even made sure I saw it.
They may look like they’re complying in the computer, but they are not directly with the patient.

@HHSGov Oh wow, look at this price for a normal X-ray! Fifty thousand dollars and there’s no guarantee that the doctor will actually treat the aforementioned condition. But hey, transparent bills! Cool!
English

@HHSGov @SecKennedy Check some of these Texas hospitals. They demand that you sign a paper saying that you received all of that prices rules etc, but u dont get to see the paper, when I question them they said, it's over there somewhere and if I took the time to read it, I would miss my appointment.
English

@HHSGov Nobody can afford medical insurance, to even go to the hospital.
English

@HHSGov @LibertyLinda4 @sentarahealth have y'all already complied? I will be looking soon. Hope we do not have to notify the Feds about noncompliance.
English

@HHSGov @SueLaniMadsen @JimWalshLD19 - I can't get a price quote for bunion foot surgery until I book a surgery date with Dr. Michael Dujelis, Centralia, Washington State.
** I can't book a date for foot surgery for December 2026 until the doctor's schedule becomes available in October 2026.

@HHSGov Please explain how & WHY Hospital charges Lidocaine 4% Patch $10.75 when grocery charges $2.10 Lidocaine 4% Patch??!
Exorbitant prices abound in hospital systems. Are those with insurance helping pay for those without? And if in ER, no chance to check prices. Real world…
English

@HHSGov @EvilBunnay I just got screwed at a small ER …$1500 out of pocket
English

@HHSGov @SecKennedy Brown Health claims to have the price transparency online, but I can't view prices without selecting an insurance plan and entering all my info. That doesn't seem transparent

@HHSGov @SecKennedy Easier (and infinitely cheaper) to pay the 2m. Why comply.

Patients deserve to be treated with respect as well! They have rights and so does their advocate. This is one step in that direction but needs to go further. Legislation like “leave no patient behind” is full of holes and gaps that allow these hospitals to continue to violate the patients wishes and leave them in a vulnerable state. Not only is everything over priced, they don’t listen, which leads to unnecessary actions by staff. It’s gotten so bad now it’s like playing Russian roulette when you step inside one.
English

@HHSGov You need to get control on Insurance Companies, such as Humana. They try to force people to use Big Pharma "preferred drugs" even if it would literally kill that person.
There should be NO hiding kickback Deals between Insurance Companies and Big Pharma
