It is impossible to love your neighbor while ignoring the laws that shape your neighbors’s community. A nation cannot properly care for its citizens while ignoring basic truths revealed in scripture specifically or creation generally. To say that those who seek scripture as a basis for justice and law are somehow idolatrous is reminiscent of those who called the worship of Jesus blasphemous. It’s easy to say that a political party could be worshipped above Jesus. What is difficult is to engage cultural with biblical truth as a faithful expression of your love for God and his truth. Those who believe the Bible is good, believe its truth to be universally good. The evil is to assume that parties in great opposition are in fact alike. While any human construct, political party or otherwise, can be justly called flawed, it is unreasonable to say that a political party cannot achieve public good. Politicians seeking life, Liberty, justice and freedom are superior to those seeking control, abuse, death and sexual perversion. Dear Christian, do not listen to leaders unable to discern what political party is most capable of bringing about the goodness outlined in scripture. The man who easily discovers the praise of the world but struggles to find the truth will with warm feelings lead you to evil ends.
