I wish people would study the phrasing that Trump uses with this statement to appreciate how well crafted it is. People assume it as a self-aggrandizement of Trump when it’s much more than that. Trump is saying I will ensure peace is maintained, because I made sure peace was maintained before. I never started any wars with you, and I won’t start any after peace is found. Putin/Zelensky, why did you mess things up? He spins it off of Zelensky and Putin, back and forth. He doesn’t blame America or Ukraine/Russia. He puts pressure on them to change. He doesn’t try dictating to them at all as the Left so enthusiastically believes. He see people who raised weapons to one another and pulled the trigger, and he is asking them to stop. It’s a domestic abuse situation at scale. The police show up and they only make it worse.
