The #1 rule of indie game marketing: HAVE A MARKETABLE GAME! Remember how Marketing is really just a multiplier. Great Marketing * Weak Game == nothing. All the marketing tricks in the world won't save "yet another 2D Puzzle Platformer" So if your goal is to find success, start by picking an idea that actually has potential. Meaning pick something that players actually would want to play. If you do that then marketing becomes infinitely easier.

@UnityCodeMonkey Tbh the only pitfall am facing is capsule. Paid several artists who gave me ai mess and now i have no choice but to make my own. Having a marketable game + having a good capsule definitely would help a lot

@UnityCodeMonkey And to determine if an idea (or an implementation) has potential, all you need is a time machine. Otherwise, it's a lottery, unless you have a considerable marketing budget. Creating the 10 millionth horror survior is probably not a guaranteed win.

I completely agree. It’s becoming increasingly clear to me that a game’s success or failure is decided in 0.01% of development time, at the moment you choose to make this game and not another. And for some reason, that decision is usually completely arbitrary, and you don’t even know yourself why you’re making that particular game 🤔
