A quote from Nelson Short (RT) 2700 allied prisoners (1900 Australian and 800 British) were held in Sandakan camp on Borneo. Only 6 Australians survived.

@JoshHoltTEN @Bushy82 @ChrisMinnsMP I play there regularly; I reckon at least 50% of players are Asian inc lots of (very good standard) Asian women. Very dated view that Clover is clinging too.

This is one of the worst decisions I have seen made by a NSW Government. Australia's most used golf course. Located next to the biggest park (green space) in the southern hemisphere. What an absolute disgrace!!! 😥 @ChrisMinnsMP

#BREAKING - The NSW Government has slashed Moore Park’s championship golf course from 18 to 12 holes despite fierce community opposition, with construction beginning July 1. DETAILS: bit.ly/4d7lyFw

@SMM_102 @FuelAustralia What’s the long term solution?? More refineries in AU. Government owned refineries?? Aussies happy to pay higher prices for that?

Politics aside, I think it's important to give credit where it's due. Behind every one of these deals is a team of Aussie public servants - who generally don't change when governments do. It appears they've been pulling out all the stops in a brutal window. From my own tracking I've seen AU bound tanker activity step up through April, I'll be watching for the 100 ML jet fuel cargoes secured this week to show up as material additions.
Anthony Albanese@AlboMP

We're working hard to secure more fuel and shield Australians from the worst impacts of war in the Middle East.

Where does Australia stand? A month ago I started doing some research, mostly to verify that fuel was still on its way to Australia, that we weren't on a 25-day countdown to zero, and that my Easter camping trip could go ahead (it did). I released that data publicly and have been adding to it since. I've had a lot of messages asking me what I think will happen, but I decided to stay away from crystal-ball gazing and tried to let the data speak for itself. Having now spent a month with my head in the data, I feel like I have a useful read on the situation. So I'll share where I think Australia stands right now, walking through the research that got me here.

🚨 Why did the British cabinet decide to send the First Fleet to Botany Bay in August 1786? The official line in the 1780s and the consensus till the 1950s was simple – Britain’s jails were overflowing as they could no longer send them to the newly independent United States ... and so a convict colony in the antipodes was established. But in the 1960s Geoffrey Blainey and others began suggesting there was a lot more to it. It has been a hotly debated point since ... and the most recent contribution is from Margaret Cameron-Ash. Cameron-Ash has rewritten our understanding of the First Fleet era via her two landmark works: Lying for the Admiralty and Beating France to Botany Bay. Today I acknowledged her three decades of study on this narrow field. For further details please listen to Episode Six of the Political History of Australia (below in comments).

Scotland just proved it: vaccinated women = zero cervical cancer cases. None. Zero. Vax skeptics will show up with excuses, myths, fear. Ignore them. This is science, foresight, and policy done right. Now imagine if every country followed suit—millions of lives saved, decades of suffering prevented. HPV vaccination isn’t optional. It’s justice.

@Sahar_A_Writes Premier's slick, superficial charm and glibness have served him well over the years but now it's worn off and he doesn't have a clue what to do next. Accountability seems to be a novel experience for him.

"The Premier wrecked the state's beloved Adelaide Writers' Week. "It's now time to admit his mistake." Greens arts spokesperson Sarah Hanson-Young on Malinauskas & the hit to Australia's arts reputation. No doubt: he must apologise to Randa Abdel-Fattah & Louise Adler. #auspol

@66mc66 @JohnOSullivan36 @antoinette_news You see, Oct 7th is where your history starts. Her history starts from birth. She has witnessed the destruction of her people as a group and their ethnic cleansing her whole life. You have no right or moral position to judge her from. Neither does anyone at that festival.

Wow. SA Premier Malinauskas, triples down on interfering with the Adelaide Writers Festival which then self imploded and was cancelled. Can you imagine linking an award-winning author who opposed genocide to two hateful, murderous men? Racism game is strong. 👇🏼

Harvest 25 draws to a close. Mixed results around the farm but the western portion of the program certainly excelled. Our staff put in a massive effort to get the crop off in good time so big thanks to them and the contractors that helped along the way with swathing and cartage

Provide terrible service, complain about short fares and rip passengers off, and this is what taxis get. Richly deserved, in my view. Now do the same at the domestic terminals. smh.com.au/national/nsw/t…

Whoever thought that a 5:30pm presser & only telling regulators, ministers and authorities shortly beforehand, almost 25 hrs after the event was tactical, has NFI about crisis comms. SA Premier Malinauskas is 100% right in calling out @Optus for its arrogance and repeated incompetence. Can see a a CEO logging on to Seek.com looking for a new job @3AW693 @2GB873 @NewsTalk4BC @6PR
