Over 35 countries—including United States, United Kingdom, France, Soviet Union recognized the State of Somaliland. Later we entered a failed, corrupt union with Somalia in good faith—but that merger was never legally ratified. The Act of Union was never properly signed, harmonized, or ratified by both sides as a single binding document. Somaliland's legislature passed one version but Somalia approved a different one "in principle" and never enacted it fully. No mutual ratification, no valid treaty under international law. The union was defective from day one—yet we suffered its consequences for decades. Democrats have looked away for far too long. Now it's up to the Republican Party and President Donald J.
