🇵🇱🤝 Polish solidarity with Belarus showcased in Rome On 9 October, the Embassy of Poland in Rome hosted the opening of the exhibition “Polish Solidarity: Supporting Belarusian Civil Society”, prepared by the Belarusian House in Warsaw in partnership with the Embassy of Poland in Italy and with the support of the Belarusian association “Talaka”. The exhibition highlights Poland’s long-standing solidarity with and support for Belarusian democratic society. Over the years, thanks to Polish backing, thousands of repressed Belarusians, former political prisoners and their families have received crucial assistance. 📌 This exhibition carries a message that goes far beyond Belarus. It underlines that Poland has been one of the most consistent and strategic supporters of democracy in Eastern Europe, investing in education, civil society and independent media. Without these efforts, Belarus could already have been absorbed by Russia. The exhibition is also a sign of gratitude towards the Polish people and state, while calling on other European countries to continue supporting Belarusians in their struggle for freedom and independence — especially at a time when global crises and new wars risk diverting international attention. The exhibition will be presented in other European cities to remind decision-makers, diplomats, experts, journalists and activists that Polish solidarity has been — and remains — a vital element of Europe’s security and democratic future. During the opening, the head of the Belarusian House, Ales Zarembiuk, stressed:
“This exhibition is our way to thank Poland for its solidarity and help. We also want to show Europe that supporting Belarus still matters — as the regime continues repression, Belarusians do not stop their struggle for independence and democracy.” ℹ️ Public task financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland within the grant competition “Public Diplomacy 2024 – 2025 – the European dimension and countering disinformation”.
