@yuronkdev @Phantasmerie If you're not going for a retro look, coloring can also make vehicles pop when you drive ambient occlusion with vertex colors. Imo it adds a lot to a car model's look better by vertex painting the panel gaps, intakes, wheel wells or just about any occluded part of the car.

@Phantasmerie I like painting the shadows via vertex colors. Gives it a really retro look and is pretty quick. Also lets me fine tune using colors to highlight certain thing!

I find it kind of hard to decide between painting shadows onto the textures themselves for the authentic look, or just to use baked lighting.
I'm not sure which method is more commonplace for low poly indie games, but I'd imagine each has advantages and disadvantages?

Basically anywhere north of Vyshnoye (spelling? lol the place south of Stary with an old castle tower overlooking it) up to NWA felt so dangerous. Running across fields was risky business, and it was always fun to stumble across corpses (sometimes you'd add on to them! :D)
Great mod and community. Sad it died off, still huffing copium for a Christmas revival.

Where do you find good masks? It's really hard to find high-quality ones for free. And I also need them to be exactly the way I imagine them in my head 😅
That's why I usually make my own.

Is this the "fair competition" praised by recent articles? If a store with dominant market share taking a 30% cut can bully developers into not passing on savings to customers on competing stores with lower fees, then competition doesn't stand a chance.

It's funny to hear about "plenty of options" when you locked in a niche years ago and will always be a decade ahead of whatever competitors do.
Think about it, can you actually picture a scenario in 2026 that would make you fully walk away from Steam? 🧐
The simple fact that most people aren't willing to abandon accounts they've spent real money on already creates a loop in this whole "pseudo-choice" system.

i am always horrified about racing games with emphasis on the protagonist as a character. I don't think I've ever liked a voiced racing protagonist except MAYBE the crew 1 protag

So Maverick Games next game is like if you combined a Forza Horizon, Driver, and Need For Speed into one. Unique take for sure in the open world racing scene. Can't wait to hear more about it! They even have a grappling hook in the game lmfao
