I’m a former infantryman, so I know how to keep it simple for dudes:
Eat well. Train hard. Sleep well.
Eat well = high protein, whole foods, supplements/meds if needed.
Train hard speaks for itself. Lift heavy things. Just move.
Sleep well means treating OSA, addressing BH, controlling pain, limiting alcohol, and taking care of yourself.
That alone would solve a huge chunk of men’s health problems and downstream disease.
English

Cardio is better than lifting alone for burning calories and reducing visceral fat. Fair.
But some of us spent years doing massive cardio volume and still looked soft because cardio alone does not automatically build muscle, improve body composition, or overcome appetite, hormones, sleep issues, or genetics.
The best answer is not cardio vs weights.
Cardio helps create the deficit. Lifting preserves muscle, improves insulin sensitivity, and changes how you actually look when the fat comes off.
Plenty of people become smaller from cardio alone. Very few become lean, muscular, and look objectively better without resistance training.
English

If your goal is fat loss, the gym bros have been misleading you.
Lifting weights is essential for health, but if you believe it is the best way to lose fat, especially visceral (belly) fat, you have fallen for a marketing myth.
The Evidence (The STRRIDE Trial & Beyond):
One of the most comprehensive studies on this (Duke University) compared aerobic training, resistance training, and a combination.
The results were clear:
🔸Aerobic Training led to significantly more fat loss and a greater reduction in visceral fat than weight training.
🔸Resistance Training is great for building lean mass, but it had zero significant impact on decreasing fat mass or total body weight when used alone.
🔸Visceral Fat: Runners consistently show lower levels of internal organ fat, which is the most dangerous type for metabolic health.
The Harsh Reality:
You can "chase the pump" for years and still carry a stubborn belly.
Why is it so?
Because the calorie expenditure of a heavy lifting session is often overcompensated for by increased appetite and decreased movement throughout the rest of the day.
Meanwhile, regular runners/cardio enthusiasts:
✔Burn more calories per minute of effort.
✔Experience better lipid oxidation (fat burning).
✔Accumulate significantly less visceral fat as they age.
Why won’t the fitness industry tell you this?
🔸"Lift heavy to get shredded" is a sexier sell. It sells supplements, gym memberships, and expensive coaching programs.
🔸"Go for a 45-minute run 4 times a week" is free, simple, and effective, but it doesn’t move product.
Reality Check:
✅Strength Training: Builds the "engine" (muscle) and preserves bone density.
✅Running/Cardio: Actually burns the "fuel" (fat).
If fat loss is your #1 goal:
1. Prioritize Zone 2 & Aerobic sessions. This is your primary fat-loss tool.
2. Use Weights as the Support. 2–3 days a week is enough to maintain muscle while the cardio does the heavy lifting for fat loss.
Bottom Line:
The "Cardio kills gains" era is over. If you are skipping the track and wondering why your waistline is not budging despite hitting PRs on the bench press...You are playing the wrong game.

@BradDuplessis Only false equivalence because it doesn't fit your hatred of Hegseth and the narrative you've created in your head.
English

You may see this false equivalence a lot in the coming days. It’s misleading. The 197 officers were not all GOs/FOs — many were O4/O6 — fired for misconduct ranging from sexual harassment, domestic violence, mishandling $…Hardly the “purge” noted by some.
All the services deal with this. When I was at the Army Review Board Agency, the service always had a few dozen officers being considered for separation (administrative or administrative in lieu of court martial) and reduction in grade.
Obama did fire several GOs:
- McKiernan for being ineffective in Afghanistan. Secretary Gates advised POTUS to get a fresh look in what POTUS called the good war during his ‘08 campaign
- Mattis over policy disagreements
- McChrystal forced his hand w/the Rolling Stone fiasco
- Flynn at DIA
Public was aware of reasons for all ⬆️. Same is not true of today. For a department that touts its transparency, there has been nothing of the kind. Further, the secretary’s no more walking on eggshells initiative appears to be in name only.
Whether you agree with the Apache flyby incident or not, a SECDEF reaching down to tell a DIV Commander what they can and cannot investigate does not inspire trust or underwrite risk, especially in combat where we expect them to lead while exercising sound judgment and initiative. Hard to square the lethality / warfighter focus with the shit-canning of George, Hodne, Pat Work…

@BuckeyeGrad1999 @UziCryptoo Sounds good, go continue to be whatever pretend expert you think you are. 😎👍

@WonNineSevenSix @UziCryptoo The program is larger and provides more benefits than just the monthly retirement check. Not sure what else to tell you my guy.
English

@BuckeyeGrad1999 @UziCryptoo Literal? Nah. Not anyone should / was supposed to have access to a “safety net”. It’s something you put into for retirement, which is later in life, was not intended as an “oh shit, I need a safety net”.
You aren’t supposed to be able to access it until you’ve earned it.
English

@BuckeyeGrad1999 @UziCryptoo It’s a shitty social safety net program. But I repeat myself.
English

@BuckeyeGrad1999 @CaucasusForever @UziCryptoo In my country Colombia SS was privatized and it was the best decision ever for us. People are getting more money for retirement and your kids, wife and parents can inherit it if you die because IS CONSIDERED YOUR SAVINGS
English

@WonNineSevenSix @UziCryptoo Yeah, that’s the literal definition of a safety net.
English

@BuckeyeGrad1999 @UziCryptoo It is not a safety net system. It was designed to have a small income coming in after retirement / being disabled after contributing to it your whole life. Has nothing to do with a safety net. You contribute to it…
English

@BuckeyeGrad1999 @UziCryptoo Rather than taking money out of working middle class paychecks, why not charge a sales tax or wealth tax to pay for this social safety net system?
English

@BuckeyeGrad1999 @UziCryptoo How about people learn to be responsible and plan for themselves, and suffer the consequences if they don’t?
English

@BuckeyeGrad1999 @CaucasusForever @UziCryptoo This is retarded. Why prevent people from choosing their own retirement plan with their own money?
English

@XS29L8B000001 @UziCryptoo It’s not an investment account. Say it out loud a couple times.
English

@BuckeyeGrad1999 @UziCryptoo A really shitty one—steals 12.4% of your pay forever then gives you a suckass couple thou every month for a few years, nothing if you die early.
English

@BuckeyeGrad1999 @CaucasusForever @UziCryptoo Why should my money go to someone who isn’t smart enough to open a Roth IRA
English

@BuckeyeGrad1999 @UziCryptoo “Hope that helps” is perhaps the biggest indicator of ignorance.
English

@BuckeyeGrad1999 @CaucasusForever @UziCryptoo I just think it’s hilarious that the only people that sit around brainstorming how we could fix this obviously broken system are the very people that don’t need it at all. Meanwhile the fucking peasants causing the issue don’t even know there is a problem and will never care.
