I hate those little "Free Libraries" people put outside their homes. They never have a single book worth reading. They just seem like a way to get rid of bad books wasting space while signaling "I'm a whimsical, interesting reader." I'm willing to be wrong. Am I wrong?

@Tallowtwins I've been nursing my baby to sleep the whole 4 months she's been alive. And I've picked her up every single time are cries. Doctor encourages me to stop but it works for her. She learned to self-soothe naturally without ever having to cry it out.

What feels most unsettling to me about sleep training is that it asks babies to sit alone with their distress in the dark, simply because we’ve decided their need for comfort is inconvenient. They’re being pushed to “self-soothe” before they even understand what safety feels like. When I imagine how overwhelming it must be for a baby to be overtired and confused in their own body, it makes it even harder to justify withholding comfort. As adults, we don’t handle exhaustion well either, so expecting a tiny nervous system to cope alone feels extremely backwards and just cruel.

@Romy_Holland @pick1oftheabove I had zero pain. Praise be to the epidural. My husband says I didn't scream or anything. I still felt my baby. Felt her in the canal, felt her pop out. Granted I only pushed for 10 minutes so it didn't last long. But no pain. I'm ready to do it again.

@pick1oftheabove i’ve had a bunch of ppl tell me their epidural did eliminate the ring of fire pain! my SIL has 4 kids and with 3 of them she reports no pain during pushing (including her 1st who had to be vacuumed out!) but her epidural failed like mine on her last and she felt it

talked to a pregnant friend who’s very into “natural” everything and is giving birth at a birth center without the option of an epidural. she asked me about my birth and i was like “are you sure you wanna hear this?” and she said yes, so i told her everything. when i got to the part about the pain of crowning i was like “jeez maybe i really shouldn’t be telling you this” and she was like “well it’s too late now” and then after a long pause she said with great uncertainty “well that was your birth, but my birth probably won’t hurt.” i have seen the natural birth content that insists that birth isn’t painful, it’s just an “intense sensation.” semantics aside, i think it’s horrible that there are so many women plainly being lied to, who are then making uninformed decisions about how to give birth.

@Megamom1985 People should have to be poor, like paycheck to three days before paycheck for the better part of their early 20’s minimum. We only JUST started making over $100k as a couple and we feel like we’ve won the damn lottery because our bills are on auto pay and nothing bounces.

@seanonolennon As an American, I have never heard "haich" once in my life.

There was never a ‘huh’ sound when pronouncing the letter H until recently and I don’t understand why it’s happening. A lot of people in both the US and the UK are pronouncing the letter H as ‘Haich.’ Is this the Mandela effect? Am I in the wrong universe? It’s ‘Aich!’ not ‘Haich!’

@Prolife_Sam A lot of these people are assuming being a SAHM means you've never had a job. I had a very lucrative career and built all our financial wealth first. But good lord, is money and status really more important than a child's peace? You can always work, babies are babies so briefly.

I’m going to say some super controversial - Even if my husband up and leaves me in 15 years after I’ve stayed home full time with children, it would still have been worth it. I wouldn’t trade this time with my children for any amount of money.

@mrs_alyse Make something. This year, I'm baking bread and cake loaves for everyone. We had a baby simply don't have the money or bandwidth to hunt down crap they probably won't even open.

I legitimately don't know what to get my parents for Christmas. I found a bag of gadgets we bought my dad over the years that he never opened. My mom is rarely happy with anything. Buying "experiences" doesn't work either since my mom refuses to go anywhere.
