@AddisonBanana @waldenpod You’re close. You’re missing one important variable and I guess I’m not doing a good job at explaining it. Simply do not enter the danger. Red: no danger Blue: danger

@CoryRockFF @waldenpod hitting blue will never result in the deaths of others, only potentially yourself. hitting red potentially results in the deaths of others, but never yourself.

@AddisonBanana @waldenpod It’s not a certain death button. It’s a maybe death button, right next to a no death button. Just press the no death button and nobody needs to worry. Pressing blue now makes you the person in danger and you’re asking me to risk my life to save you. Just come be safe on red homie

@CoryRockFF @waldenpod which can be more easily nullified or deactivated by simple majority, eliminating the possibility of death for all. rather than leaving a “certain death” threatening button primed, and hoping every single person in the world thinks the same way & 100% conforms to achieve no deaths

@CoryRockFF @waldenpod would think that collectively eliminating a threat would be better than allowing it to persist and gobble up any who go in for whatever reason. will never get 100% one way or the other. reds way results in deaths. a blue win no one dies.

@AddisonBanana @waldenpod In this scenario you would not be able to see what others do. It’s all done at the same time anonymously, just like the original question. It’s the exact same question, just different marketing

@CoryRockFF @waldenpod it’s presented as buttons. up to you how to interpret, not all will imagine it as jumping into fire. some kids might not understand or choose randomly. same for ones without all their faculties. I’ll still use scenario- you see someone you know fall in, do you try & save them?

@CoryRockFF @waldenpod since blue otherwise has no affect on red win or lose, why don’t you publicly advocate for blue votes in the chance it does potentially save up to half the world, while privately picking red anyways outta self-preservation?

@AddisonBanana @waldenpod Here’s what you’re missing. Nobody even has to put themselves in danger Press red = stay away from the fire Press blue = jump in the fire and and be killed unless more than 50% of people jump in the fire (which would put it out)

@CoryRockFF @waldenpod potentially having up to half the world’s pop killed, seems pretty dangerous and puts surviving reds at risk in a post-culling low-trust highly individualistic and selfish world without any selfless or helpful or altruistic people around. easier to get a simple majority than 100%

A person with a high enough IQ would realise society in general operates on community and cooperation. Kids, kind people, People who believe in goodwill and the people with "low IQ" would all probably choose blue, choosing red is strategically leaving them to die.
Mark Elevate@mark_elevate

@rojalita25 @FondOfBeetles Blue button doesn't put the group first. It's an IQ test and you're failing it. There is no group benefit to pressing blue. If there were an outsized reward for everyone if blue won, that would be different. But it's not how the question is written.

@Prowl8413 If you pick blue you selfishly become a burden to society and ask others to save you. If you pick red you handle your own safety first, which everyone can do, and avoid becoming a burden for society ti have ti risk their lives to save for no reason by not entering danger

This is a test of selfishness and lack of care for others. If you puck blue, you want everyone to live. If you pick red, you dont care that people who picked blue die. There is no other way to argue this. Statistically you cant get more than like 70% of people to agree on almost anything, so picking red, youre ok with wiping out like 30%+ of people. Its easy to make that choice when you don't know who the 30% is. This shows a lack of empathy, and forethought, because surely you will have some family members, your mom, brother, niece, etc that pick blue, and had you known that consequence beforehand, you would have chosen different. This sort of experiment seems benign, but its a glimpse at how the 45% or so of people actually feel about the 55% that chose correctly. They will sell you down the river quick if they dont know you personally, but then play ignorant/stupid when the consequences hit them personally.
MrBeast@MrBeast

Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.

@kaileyinCA It’s very simple. No danger persists on the red button. There is only danger on blue. Red is trying to explain to blue to stop entering into unnecessary danger and then nobody even needs to be saved

i don’t understand why anybody would choose the red button. asking genuinely, if you chose it - why? if 50%+ choose blue, everyone lives. if less than 50% choose red, only those who chose red live. why are you willing to sacrifice half of those people?

@shunnedmorlock The thing you’re missing is that the poll doesn’t present necessary danger. It’s completely avoidable danger by not pressing blue. Red is saying don’t enter into danger for no reason

If 100% of people vote blue, no one dies. If 100% of people vote red, no one dies. This is true. If 51% of people vote blue, no one dies. If 51% of people vote red, 49% of people die. If our goal is to minimize death, it is far easier to get 51% to act in concert than 100%.

@CoryRockFF @waldenpod if a majority of reds band together they rewrite the blue button from “everyone lives” to “all blues die”. Blue is safer for everyone unless reds mess it up by being selfish and apathetic. If red wins, there’s a guarantee it kills others.

Old answer was red because I thought blue was going to lose in a landslide. But now my answer is blue because living in a world with only red button people is a fate comparable to death.

@zxcvbnmwill @YZR_Fantasy It’s not completely different. The point of this is to breakdown the fundamental mechanics of the game. The actual game is exactly the same, just different marketing. This is why reading comprehension and critical thinking are important.

@CoryRockFF @waldenpod The crafty wording is a trick With a little reasoning you can realize that the red button is the only dangerous option Selecting it increases the need to 100 percent votes, instead of 51 percent needed on blue to save everyone causing division and a burden to everyone not selfish
