@AaronHinman4@wlemonesc For sovereignty with conditions. The conditions were violated, and the policy also turned out to be not sovereign, but for the money of other countries hostile to Russia.
@DearEdisson@wlemonesc The agreements were violated by russia.
>.The agreement was signed with the condition of non-alignment.<<
No it wasn't. The treaties specifically recognized Ukraines right to sovereignty.
@jperegadea@wlemonesc Russia has never been a colonial empire in the conventional sense. All of our regions that could be called colonies had equal development conditions with the rest of the regions.
@DearEdisson@hamishgryan@wlemonesc Como todos los imperios coloniales. Rusia simplemente obtuvo sus colonias de territorios contiguos, pero sigue siendo un imperio y sus colonias.
Things look a little different in Russia. If there had been a clear understanding in 1991 that an agreement with Western countries would not work, in particular, to advance NATO to the east and undermine the young post-Soviet regimes, the collapse would never have happened. But it happened, and everyone played a role in it. Back in 2007, Putin warned in Munich about the risks, but that didn't change anything.
As a result, Russia would have to assume the role of the main actor in this process. There are many reasons - Ukraine's loss of sovereignty, violation of international treaties, the choice of ultranationalist mediation methods, the unwillingness of Russian regions to remain part of Ukraine, the possibility of the United States deploying its bases and equipment in Crimea.
All these events are tragic, but the time for such discussions has already passed. A new reality has emerged in which the topics are already different.
It is important to understand that there has always been an opportunity, but for some reason it did not work. Probably, both Ukrainians, Europe, and the United States considered all possible costs acceptable.
@DearEdisson@wlemonesc Was it worth it to fill the best soil in the world with lead and kill millions of your own people? Ukranians are pretty much identical to Russians
Russia is most interested in how these regions are currently living their lives. If the de facto Russian regions, which have been under the jurisdiction of an unreliable neighbor that violates treaties, have mistakenly fallen under the jurisdiction of an unreliable neighbor that violates treaties, this requires a direct response based on the current situation. This is exactly what you are seeing.
@DearEdisson@Adre_N@wlemonesc Ah, so? Then lets count history only 35 y ago. :). All what was centuries before just didnt existed, right?:) p.s. I didnt gave any example.
Tatars and, more broadly, Turkic peoples have been living in Russia for several hundred years. In several regions, they represent the core of the culture. In two regions, if I remember correctly, they have the status of autonomy. This means that they have more sovereignty than other, regular regions.
It doesn't matter if it happened or not. Ukraine was liberated along with Crimea and other Russian (de facto) regions under certain conditions only 35 years ago. These conditions were violated, but the regions remained Russian. This is a practical situation, unlike your example where Crimea was part of Gondwana under the rule of velociraptors, etc.
@Makcraft@wlemonesc There is no conflict of interest. When Alaska was given away, there were conditions that everyone agreed to and followed. However, this is not the case with Ukraine.
@DoorBlueArrows@wlemonesc Russia made a mistake when it assumed that it could reach an agreement with Western countries. As a result, it took too hasty steps.
@DearEdisson@wlemonesc So Ukraine was compromised since they accepted western aid therefore Russian was justified in its invasion because the Ukrainians had no sovereignty? And this violated the ssr’s understanding when the union broke up?
There are no excuses. The U.S. is placing military bases and equipment all over its protégés. Under these conditions, the USSR would never have split up in the first place. So, there is no need for excuses for an adequate response to such actions. Everyone was warned in Munich in 2007 and many times before and after that.
VOLKER: I don't believe Putin will ever agree to peace agreement.
He doesn't see Ukraine as sovereign, independent state. He doesn't believe in idea of international border between Russia and Ukraine. He doesn't believe Zelenskyy is legitimate leader.
He will not stop until Ukraine is subjugated to Moscow again. That's his goal. What Ukraine is doing is making sure he never achieves his goal.
@26ers_bp115 Not black people, but sick, inadequate people who need treatment. That's more accurate. Why there are more of them among black people is another question
During events in Rome marking the Liberation Day from Fascism and Nazism, participants of a rally carrying 🇺🇦flags were attacked.
Dear 🇮🇹colleagues, could you please explain what really happened?
Who are the attackers?
@ThoughtCrimes80 No way - love your neighbor is a principle. Protect yourself and your family is a more important principle. They don't exclude each other. Love people but be appropriate to what they do. This is one of the main ideas of Orthodoxy, by the way
Simply put, the Mongols no longer need these lands, and there is no Mongolian culture there. These lands and the people who live on them cooperate with their neighbors, rather than acting in the interests of hostile countries for money. Therefore, there is no reason for this.
In the case of Ukraine, the opposite is true. Russia does not want its neighbor to have paid-for orange revolutions. This was a condition for the collapse of the USSR. Since this condition has been violated, Russia will also act based on its current needs rather than agreements. This is exactly what you are observing.
@DearEdisson@JacquesSchnee@wlemonesc They haven't because historical ownership is a retarded claim.
If the turks and mongols declared the rights, would you give them it?
It's not just a matter of time. One of the conditions for gaining sovereignty was non-alignment. Non-alignment allowed Ukraine to exercise its protectorate over Crimea and other regions that were granted to the republic in the USSR. However, this is no longer the case, and it violates the agreements and poses threats to the development of these regions. This is why they are returning to Russia. No one wants to live in a perpetual orange revolution.
