Happening Now: The Ministerial Round Table, bringing together ministers responsible for the postal and ICT sectors across Africa for high-level dialogue. This session is focused on policy direction and political commitment. Ministers are reflecting on the strategic role of postal networks in driving intra-African trade, supporting small businesses, and strengthening last-mile connectivity in both urban and rural communities. The conversations are centered on practical leadership decisions, how governments can create enabling regulatory environments, mobilise investment, and accelerate digital transformation within national postal systems, with emphasis on cooperation between countries to ensure smoother cross-border delivery, improved customs coordination, and better integration of postal services into the digital economy. The Round Table reflects a shared understanding that sustainable progress requires not only technical reforms but also clear political will and coordinated action plans. #PAPU2026Kampala #PAPUPlenipot26 @_AfricanUnion @UPU_UN @GovUganda @MoICT_Ug @azawedde @UCC_ED @MarjanOsvald @IBbossa

The 272 km stretch from Malaba to Kampala will cost around £2.7 billion, approximately 10 to 11 trillion Ugandan Shillings, which is significant given the size of our economy - Hon. @PaulOmara19 #UBCBehindtheHeadlines. .

Happening Today: Deliberations continue today at the 11th Ordinary Session of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) Plenipotentiary Conference, with Member States engaging in candid & constructive exchanges on the future of Africa’s postal sector. Delegates are sharing experiences; what is working, where the gaps remain, and how their unique realities are shaping reforms in their home countries. From digital systems & e-commerce logistics to regulatory adjustments and cross-border delivery systems, delegates are presenting practical lessons drawn from their own markets while identifying common challenges and universal priorities that can guide collective action. While each country operates within different economic and geographic contexts, there is a growing consensus on the need for harmonised standards, modern infrastructure, and technology-enabled postal networks to support sustainable intra-African trade. #PAPU2026Kampala #PAPUPlenipot26 @_AfricanUnion @UPU_UN @GovUganda @MoICT_Ug @azawedde @UCC_ED @MarjanOsvald @IBbossa

Today, at the 11th Ordinary Session of @papuafrica, Uganda decided to not just participate in a continental conversation but step forward with a solution. In a room where Africa is collectively rethinking the future of its postal sector, moving from traditional mail systems to digitally enabled logistics and e-commerce ecosystems, Uganda is presenting a practical, working model of that future; POSTCOM . Across Africa, postal systems are undergoing one of the most significant transformations in their history. Once defined by letters and parcels, today’s postal networks are being repositioned as, engines of e-commerce, gateways to global trade and Infrastructure for financial inclusion and logistics innovation The 11th Ordinary Session of #PAPUPlenipot26 is anchored on this transition; how Africa can leverage its extensive postal networks, often the most widespread physical infrastructure in many countries, to unlock intra-African trade and global competitiveness. Uganda is a country of producers, from coffee farmers to artisans in Kampala, to SMEs across districts, Uganda has products, creativity, and entrepreneurial energy. What has historically been missing is structured access to markets. For years, the gap has not been production, but market visibility, logistics coordination, export readiness and trusted systems for payments and delivery. @Posta_Ugand has quietly built one of the most extensive national networks, Over 100 branches across the country, coverage connected to over 192 countries globally, Integration into international postal and logistics systems POSTCOM is Uganda’s answer to the gap. It is an e-commerce platform a national trade enabler, built on top of an existing logistics backbone. POSTCOM will enable citizens and businesses to create online shops, digitally showcase Ugandan products to international buyers, integrate logistics, payments, and delivery systems into one platform and connect customers, delivery agents, and postal hubs for seamless last-mile connectivity. This will collapse traditional barriers between production, market access, and delivery, bringing them into a single, coordinated ecosystem. At a time when @papuafrica is pushing for modernization, POSTCOM offers a replicable model; it is such a platform. And today, Uganda is telling more than that story, but it is living it too. #PAPU2026Kampala #GoldenPosts @UCC_Official @GovUganda @MoICT_Ug @StateHouseUg @GCICUganda
