@John_Podmore Those were the days. As Courts gov together with JB Security gov summoned to by judge sitting at St Albans CrCt. Given suitable dressing down we were then invited to join judges for lunch. How very English and civilised. I’m sure there is a book here if anyone cared to collect.

@DavidLammy meeting with Governors is a nonsense . There are at least 5 tiers of management between them and him. They need the ‘career talk’ and starting now should be based in their nearest prison working a 5 day week in their new office. Ditto all HQ staff - close Petty France

@ShabanaMahmood clearly never read any of these reports, will @DavidLammy ? When senior leaders work 4 day weeks from home on compressed hours but still get stellar promotions and are never held to account nothing will change.

Bullingdon, like many other jails, is heavily dependent on prison officers recruited from West Africa. Changes to Home Office thresholds mean that many are in danger of not have their work visas renewed. This will have a devastating effect on may jails if a solution is not found.

Now was he ‘unlawfully at large’ ? He certainly didn’t abscond or escape. Any licence conditions would be interesting. And of course had he been a British national he was being released at the appropriate time given the length of his sentence and time on remand.

@DavidLammy in his investigation might want to ask how many senior managers were in Chelmsford on Friday and indeed any other prison . I suspect everyone at HQ was also working from home.

@John_Podmore I find some of these goings on unbelievable. Truly enforced contract delivery rather than delivery of a humane service. It must be gut wrenching for those who care - let alone those on the receiving end. None it seems with an element of choice.

I wonder how many Governors and senior managers are around on a Friday. I’m told the concept of ‘compressed hours’ led by the former CEO is now widespread.
