They can take a loan to avoid paying taxes on the $10M of growth. The initial $10M was taxed at 37% though

What Dems aren’t saying is they want to lift the cap, but NOT increase the benefit. Someone making $184k would pay 12.4% of their income and get ~$4k/mo in retirement. Someone making $1M would pay 12.4% and ALSO get ~$4k in retirement. It’s just a sneaky way of raising taxes.

@JonnyRoot_ He is an entertainer and pissing off big fanbases is actually harmful to the team. His opinions are his own but when you spout them publicly then there is risk involved.

If you’re a Roman Catholic & you support Jaden Ivey being fired because he called your religion false, shame on you. If you’re a member of the LGBTQ community & you support Jaden Ivey being fired because he doesn’t support Pride or gay marriage, shame on you. If you’re a sports media member & you say Jaden Ivey is mentally ill, shame on you. Jaden Ivey was fired for simply holding to historical, foundational, Biblical Christian beliefs. No one should be fired for that in the NBA or any other sports league. If you support Ivey’s firing, the problem is actually with you, not him.

@OfWonk @BuffKret2407 @ronrule It's still very progressive. The wealthy just have legal ways of not paying the printed income bracket number. They are still paying more than the poor in most circumstances until they reach the point where they pay zero and just live on loans.

@Im_spatial @BuffKret2407 @ronrule Funny thing about that: it’s actually not very progressive IN EFFECT anymore. The wealthy pay a nominally impressive number, but not close to enough to prevent post-tax wealth distribution from getting more skewed with each cycle.

@BuffKret2407 @OfWonk @ronrule The bottom half pay lots of other federal taxes though and at a much higher rate than the wealthy. Income tax is only part of the equation and it's the part that backs your argument because it's quite progressive.

If the average person getting $4k/mo from social security could have put that 12.4% of every paycheck into the S&P instead, they would currently be getting $32k/mo instead of $4k. And their kids would continue to get that $32k/mo after they died. Social Security is a scam.
