@timeproofgames The main issue this game has is the lack of enemy variety and repetitive combat. I think the developers were aware of these shortcomings so they made the presentation as grandiose as possible. The short length is to its benefit, any longer and it would have become a slog.

I know this game disappointed back in the day, but I liked it quite a lot nevertheless. Now it’s very cheap on Steam. If you want a short action game to play, give it a try.

@Charles1701A @TArchcast In 1996 when you payed $60 for a game it came in a nice box, with a printed manual and a physical disc that is complete and yours to keep forever. In 2026 you pay $60 for a digital license that can be revoked on a whim.
The old game wasn't more expensive, it was more valuable.

@TArchcast Now to be fair, $60 in 1996 (N64 release year) is worth about $130 today.
Now because of a larger market, better tools, and more developers, and in game purchases, a price near $70 (imo) does seem somewhat fair.
Now, many AAA games quality wise likely don't deserve even $60.

@LordSmap @ultradereks What is very uncommon and unprecedented is the AI insanity driving the price of aging tech UP. Nobody would complain about the tech being a few years behind if the price went down year over year as it used to be the case. The entire consumer PC market is in a dire situation.

It's actually very common for the technology in these types of machines to be outdated at launch primarily due to the long development cycle.
When the PS5 launched it launched with hardware that was almost 2 years old at the time. The switch 2 launched with hardware that was 4 years old. It's really only PC's with off the shelf parts that can be bought with the newest consumer technology.
Even newly released laptops trail behind desktop PC's by about a year. The steam mechine is essentially laptop hardware in a console form facter running desktop software.

Steam Machine was announced. The specs looked meh. 6 cores, rx7600 8gb gddr6. Techtube gets super hyped. People in the comments are all hyped.
I point out specs in comments. Replies be like “nah bro, they will optimize the games for the steam deck.” Ram and ssds skyrocket in price. People are worried about the cost.
Steam deck gets released. Performs as speced. People lose their freakin minds. “I can’t believe it performs like how it’s speced!!” “It’s such a rip off. I can build the exact same computer for around 50 dollars less!”

@SCShipyards Unfortunately EU policy makers are extremely allergic to simple solutions. The only "solutions" on the table are the progressive type, which tend to make things far worse. Case in point: Germany getting rid of all it's nuclear power plants.

South Korea banned porn, and they still have the worst birth rates in the world. It’s almost like porn serves a sexual pressure release valve for men but otherwise has little to do with the birth rate crisis. It’s almost like women actually hate it purely for vanity reasons.

Even the single player mode will be designed to FOMO players with all manner of content and gameplay boosters.
