@bowtiedmeathead Why eliminate the trades? I follow a couple female electricians online and they crush it. The best trim carpenter I ever worked with was a woman. 🤷

My wife and I were talking the other day about potential career options for my 15 yrs old daughter who really struggles in school and is likely not college bound/material.
For guys it’s easy…
Don’t want to go to college, pick a trade or figure something else out such as a police officer, firefighter etc.
It’s not as easy for girls.
I think she would do well in sales since she is attractive, has the personality and is extremely social (spends hours everyday talking on the phone to all her friends).
For parents with daughters who aren’t on the college path…what are some real, high-income career options you’ve seen work?

Everywhere you look, people are talking about the “insane” things they’re doing with AI.
I hear nobody talking about stoplights, which should be a layup for AI.
Until AI operates stoplights in real time instead of according to senseless schedules, spare us the fear-mongering.
The idea that someone sitting at a red light while there isn’t another car within a half mile is going to have their job taken by AI is delusion to an epic degree.

@JulieChangRE That’s a shared attic. It’s common here, but usually separated by plywood sheer walls.
I had an apartment in Leucadia that wasn’t. Neighbor and I were buddies and shared cable TV. When we went into the attic we realized we could enter each other’s homes through the hatches.

Can someone explain to me how they build apartments in the UK as to why there is a “loft” with a hatch to it that can go into other units?

Went to my second ever broadway show the other week and it was a one-man performance by Daniel Radcliffe aka Harry Potter. He spends the 20 minutes before every show handing out props and recruiting people to interact with him during the show. Never seen someone so dialled in. Was an amazing performance, 1.5 hours straight, no intermission. He does this night after night. Did some math with Claude and he probably makes $50K per week which is great $$ but still considerably less than what he would make for a movie role. His parents also helped him invest his Harry Potter earnings well and he makes $660K/month just off investments (UK companies are required to make full financial disclosures, very different from the US but very useful for this kind of pocket watching). Which means he never has to work again he just continues to do this for the love of the game. These kinds of in-person experiences and acts of passion are one of the few things that can’t be replaced by AI Oh also he does not like it when you call him Harry or bring up his old movies. Ask me how I know.

California is expensive! In the past year+, CA has outpaced the nation in inflation in every category except education (barely), according to LAO in Feb.
Those gas prices tho.
