@Legopolis True story. It was gently propelled along with some light jazz drumming (which I would occasionally air drum along with), then they ditched it around season 3/4. As a drummer, I can sense your outrage.

@Blakes7Diary To be fair, this is a problem with television in general. The 80s/90s Star Trek shows filmed more minutes per season than even 60s Doctor Who did. The expectations for “high quality” for both modern TV and movies have been to the detriment of both.

1963–69: Doctor Who averaged 42 episodes a season. 2021–26: averaging 5 a year (and that’s being generous - 2026 gets ONE). We’ve gone from “television institution” to “occasional calendar reminder.” We’re endlessly told how impossibly hard it is to make now. In the ’60s - on tight budgets and brutal schedules - they simply got on with it, turning out dozens of episodes a year and creating stories that still enchant today. #DoctorWho
