13 years ago, I was dying from OUD. The 12 steps saved my life, without any need for a belief in god. I learned a way of living that provided freedom from my addiction and the prison of emotional entanglement. If you’re struggling, my DMs are always open. 🙏

It is more important than ever to spend time talking to people about science. Communicate its value, and its objectivity. Talk to your neighbors, your bartenders, your barbers, your congressmen. Talk kindly to people whose political views differ from yours. Protect science.

There’s a big debate in addiction research: is drug use despite adverse consequences (like punishment) a standalone measure of compulsive behavior, or just part of a larger addiction profile?
