I hope once they realize that time zones have existed since the discovery that the earth is round will bring them comfort. Personally I blame the COVID shot.

@BGCFreed @peteremcc The design of Standard Time is to standardize clocks to within 30 minutes of solar time. It’s a rounding strategy. And it’s no reason to divorce clocks completely from the sun with DST.

Permanent standard time would mean giving up an hour of light after work for 9 months of the year, to get a little bit of extra light between 9 am and 10 am in the morning in winter, when you're at work anyway. Utter insanity. Permanent daylight saving time is the only option.
