My alma mater, Chalmers University of Technology did a rebrand and it's really bad. I don't like to dunk on other people's work, but this is just off on so many points. The main new element is the tilted A in the wordmark, derived from their motto Avancez (Advance). While it makes sense conceptually, I think it's really poorly executed. The school is almost 200 years old, institutions carry weight, and that needs to be reflected. This just totally misses the mark. And then there is the color. The launch was so poor many believed the emblem had been removed entirely (in many places it had), so a few hours after launch they switched back to the emblem icon on socials. While the design is underwhelming, there's another lesson here in how you present a rebrand. Chalmers mainly changed its digital surfaces without clearly explaining where and how the emblem, wordmark, and logomark would be used. They did clarify after the fact, but by then it was too late. About 2,000 students have signed a petition to revert to the old logo.

I absolutely hate AI. And I’m not saying this as a technological Luddite. AI is going to wipe out millions of jobs and is already diminishing authentic creativity. A technological step forward that is actually a giant leap backwards for original human endeavour.

@realBigBrainAI A few years ago this was a reasonable thing to defend, but not anymore. Today LLM's are performing real tasks, beyond generating text. This is not possible without any understanding. They have some sort of reasoning and intelligence, but just different than human intelligence.

He's obviously wrong. I can feed 100K lines of code into an LLM and ask it to describe to me in English the function and purpose of the code. The answer is accurate and insightful. That's not achievable through probability and statistics. Obviously. It's only low-intelligence humans who can't see the high intelligence of today's frontier LLMs.

Igår ringde en vän och en känd Gävleprofil. Han åkte buss i Gävle igår och när han ringde berättade han att när han klev på bussen satte han sig på den lediga plats som fanns nära två kvinnor. De skällde ut honom och sa att män inte fick sitta nära dem. Han förklarade lugnt att i Sverige har vi inte könssegregerade bussar. Frågan är nu hur kvinnorna ens kunde tro det? Var brister det i introduktionen till det svenska samhället om kvinnor som har flyttat till Sverige och Gävle tror att vi har olika platser i bussar för män och kvinnor? Uppenbarligen brister det i integrationen till det svenska samhället. Samtidigt står s kvinnors ordförande i SVT Aktuellt och debatterar kvotering av föräldraförsäkring när vi uppenbarligen har betydligt större problem med jämställdheten på andra områden i samhället men det kommer inte SVT att ta upp förstås.
