Nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts – and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change. bbc.com/future/article…

Trump on troop deployments: I seem to have great support. CNN came out with a poll today that I'm at 100%. They said they have never seen a poll like that. The CNN poll said I'm at 100%.

@Acyn Another day closer to Trump's equivalent of Russian State TV. A lie so obvious and the President has no shame in telling it.

@MotowarriorX Read what I wrote again. From those mountains, that island can be easily attacked, again and again. What part of that do you not understand? Any marines on that island will be sitting ducks. Oh and remind us how Afghanistan turned out again.

Why are you taking about mountains?? No one is invading Iran. That said the U.S. military fought many years in the mountains in Afghanistan and we did just fine. Trump will not make the same mistakes as past presidents have. SecWar and General Cain believe the same thing again there will be no boots on the ground in Iran in force.
Postcards From Protest@PostFromProtest

@MotowarriorX @MalcolmNance @Jen_wonders There is a reason why insurgent groups operate and survive in mountains. It's why the Taliban never really went away in Afghanistan. It's why the Kurds are able to keep going. It's even why Hezbollah still exist. Iran is more mountains than plateau, and high ones at that.

@MotowarriorX The Island is overseen by a huge mountain range that runs the length of the Iranian coast. How are marines going to defend from hand launched missiles and drones, easily hidden in those mountains? Oh and btw, you are not the only one with extensive military experience.

The island has no mountains! I know way more about military operations than you. Fought in both places. Anyone that thinks this is a full force invasion of Iran are fools. No Marines or anyone else is going into the mountains. Maybe a special forces raid on the increasing nuke site. That’s it!
Postcards From Protest@PostFromProtest

@MalcolmNance @MotowarriorX @Jen_wonders He seems to think the marines have magical powers to overcome mountain based insurgencies. How did that work out in Afghanistan then? Vietnam? Iran is a country of 93 million people, but here is this guy thinking 2500 marines can do a job the US has never succeeded in doing.

@Taggyboy14 @VoicesUnheard @disclosetv But this is just an opinion based on wishful thinking! Manufacturing is not coming back to the West unless wages drop significantly, or wages rise significantly in Asia. That's basic capitalism. As for the ME, the US has never had any effective understanding of conflicts there.

@Taggyboy14 @VoicesUnheard @disclosetv It's not about lies. It's about the real world complexity of war. There are many ways to cause damage, including economic. The USA seemed to think there would be no repercussions by Iran. They were wrong.

@MobileJustice @mohanyoo @Iromg Both are true though. The media fuels a left/right divide, because most of it is owed by right wing self serving wealthy plutocrats, that don't want people comparing that to any idea of meritocracy.

@BartDePalma @Mollyploofkins Europe is far less dependent oil & LNG from the Middle East than China, India, Japan or South Korea. Green electricity generation continues unaffected by the war. 👍 However, Oil & LNG are global markets, so the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz is causing price spikes.

@BartDePalma @Mollyploofkins No. The EU are less dependent on gas/ oil LNG than the US and most other major economies. Norway is still one of the biggest providers of both to EU countries. The day that oil/ gas begins to run out (because it will), the EU is going to self sufficient in renewables.

@Mollyploofkins In other words, they know they are hurting American consumers, but don't care. Those mid-terms are going to show puppets like Vance exactly what the American people think.

EVERYONE REPEAT AFTER ME You CANNOT get to Kharg Island with Marines until you successfully transit the Strait of Hormuz ... which the IRGC will make a living hell with sea mines, suicide boat drones, missiles and aerial drones Once past the SOH its a 20-24 hour dash (380nm) to Kharg along a coast that may be firing off antiship missiles, ballistic hypersonic missiles, cruise missiles small boats and suicide drones of all sorts, aerial, surface and subsurface. Then they can just blow up the islands refineries when you arrive so you have to live in a town of 8,000 who hate you in a cloud of poisonous smoke/gas
The Angry Gunner@TheAngry53586

Repeat after me:- To get amphibious ships to Kharg, you need to clear the SOH and AFTER, hundreds of miles of coastline first. It’s like some accounts don’t know the geography of the PG.

I suggest you leave it up to the bring it mines in sitcom to figure out how to do this. They have way more experience than you could even possibly imagine nothing worse than a armchair quarterback, trying to do call play-by-play and trying to tell the coach and quarterback, what to do

@aNHsnowbird @ace_afire @Osint613 Well to be fair, some people 'were' just being plucked off the street. Something to do with bonuses being paid for numbers arrested. Bovine meanwhile, has been put out to pasture. It shouldn't have taken the deaths of two people to bring about that shift though.

@ace_afire @Osint613 Yes, it’s a needed shift considering much of the public thinks ppl are just being plucked off the sidewalk to be deported and has no idea the number of serious criminals they are actually going after. Yes! Need a PR push to highlight the worst of the worst

NEW: U.S. President Donald Trump is seeking to lower the profile of his mass deportation effort, and has directed his top advisers to adopt a new approach on one of his central campaign promises, WSJ reported on Thursday night. In conversations with top advisers and his wife Melania, Trump has become convinced that some of his administration’s deportation policies have gone too far, and voters don’t like the term “mass deportation.” The president has told them he wants to see more attention on arresting “bad guys” and less chaos in American cities. At this time, there is no official word from the Trump administration on the Wall Street Journal report.

@simonwu @AMAZlNGNATURE Nah, it's a domesticated one. Hippos are very social creatures and in a zoo are more likely to be domesticated. That's why the enclosure isn't fenced off with a mile high fence.
