lastly, i built a chrome extension that identifies fonts on any webpage and feeds discovery data (anonymized) back to typedex to enhance the trending algorithm. this creates a data flywheel where users get a useful font identification tool + typedex gains real-world font usage signals.

font discovery is broken. most existing tools are either built around manual curation that goes stale fast, or automated lists that optimize for popularity instead of taste. neither does a good job of surfacing what designers are actually using.
