Messi’s international preeminence didn’t begin with Argentina’s senior team, it was evident long before. At the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup, he won both the Golden Ball and Golden Boot, inspiring Argentina to the title. Carrying teams and delivering on the biggest stages has been part of his story from the very beginning. We don’t talk about that enough

U dey read wetin u dey type at all? You clearly stated in your first comment that playmaking falls under the ability to pass, trying to attribute the whole skill set under passing thereby giving it an entirely different definition. All passers aren't playmakers, but all playmakers are passers. Passing is just one subset attributes of playmakers not the whole. Dey try think rigorously before dishing out your opinions so you don't sound stupid.

@Ralph_Mahn @winninmanzino @vanz_II What is play making? You need to be able to pass the ball and have the vision to execute that The ability required to do just that is your passing skill and execution You guys just blab but i swear you guys don’t know ball And playmaking is only but one role in a team

Messi has scored 112 goals with his right foot, and Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 185 goals with his left foot. Messi's longest weaker(right)-foot goal- 30 yards was against Nigeria 2014 FIFA world cup. Cristiano Ronaldo's longest weaker(left)-foot goal -36 yards was against Osasuna, 31st March 2012 in the 5-1 win. Again, Ronaldo's ability to generate shot power can never be compared to Messi, also m, 112 is closer to 100 just as 185 is closer to 200. Again, when considering football ability, Ronaldo clears Messi in a lot of areas for an attacker. CR7 🇵🇹🐐👑❤️

You just dey grasp at straws. From better attacker to better striker, LMFAO! Being the highest goal scorer doesn't necessarily mean he's the more productive player, I don't even think you understand your choice of words. In terms of productivity, Efficiency and dynamism Lionel Messi edges, the stats are there. You keep giving your opinions, and expecting me to accept it without statistical evidence or tactical analysis. Lionel Messi influences the attack in different ways a player can threaten a defense, goal scoring, playmaking, dribbling, ball progression, chance creation, through balls, set piece creativity, Free kicks. Ronaldo might edge in aerial ability, penalty box movement, and heading. But the available statistical evidence points to Messi. Saying you can't have Messi in your team because he's less dynamic is straight up self deception.

How is it false, if he's more productive in front of goal, being the highest goalscorer in the game? I'm glad you said I could love Ronaldo, and as a matter of fact, I do. The same way you may love Messi, but he's definitely not better as a striker than Ronaldo. I can't have Messi in my team, if I'm looking for dynamism in my attacking front. The reasons you love Messi are valid, just as mine. Ronaldo creates a lot of opportunities for his teammates by also drawing defenders to himself, thereby creating space. A deadly finisher and dynamic attacker. He's the Greatest of all time.

@winninmanzino @vanz_II @Ralph_Mahn You don’t have a point Assists, key passes, big chances created all fall under playmaking Freekick goals penalty goals headed goals tapin etc all fall under goalscoring Playmaking fall under passing ability Goalscoring leans to shooting and finishing

Your emphasis has always been on the opinion that Ronaldo is a complete attacker than Lionel Messi which is completely false as I have proven, given the available metrics used to judge attackers. You may love Ronaldo for his versatility in front of goal and athleticism, but all that makes him is an elite goal scorer arguably the greatest goalscorer the sport has seen. Lionel Messi on the other hand spans a wider range of attacking metrics, his impact isn't just reflected in G/A, it spreads across every measurable creative metric and even some aspects that are difficult to quantify, like drawing defenders to create space for teammates, dictating the rhythm of attacks and progressive plays while still giving you a handful of 40-50 goals in a season, simply the GOAT 🐐

Initially, I didn't want to respond to you, so it doesn't look like I'm giving you enough attention, which you don't certainly merit. I'll not waste your time, as well as mine. The origin of this discuss is about football abilities. Now, I ask you, if you can divide Messi's "Playmaking" of course which includes chance creation, assists, key passes, why shouldn't I also be able to separate Ronaldo's "goalscoring" into his strengths, which includes Aerial prowess, shot power, efficiency of using both feet? Are these not footballing abilities as well?

✓“You summarise Ronaldo's as "goalscoring" but Messi's you used Chance creation, key passes and Assists 😂😂😂 You guys are insufferable. So, key passes and assists aren't chance creation?” Your comment is opinionated and not factual, a whole lot of strawman here and there, buh lemme break it down for you. Key passes, assist and chance creation are subsets of playmaking, they overlap but are not the same thing. Every assist is usually a key pass, but not every key pass becomes an assist. For example, imagine Messi in a match: 6 passes lead to shots = 6 key passes Of those 6 shots, only 2 are scored = 2 assists If 3 of those chances were one-on-one opportunities, he might also have 3 big chances created. This is one reason Messi's creative numbers are so highly regarded. Even on days when his teammates don't finish the chances he creates, his key pass and chance creation numbers still reflect how much he influenced the attack. His impact isn't just reflected in assists, it spreads across every measurable creative metric and even some aspects that are difficult to quantity, like drawing defenders to create space for teammates or dictating the rhythm of attacks. ✓“Your definition of playmaking doesn't resonate with mine. You define yours as ability to wriggle out of tight spaces and dictate tempo, I define mine as ability to beat your opponent with a quick action, leaving him for the dust, I define mine as reading the spaces and knowing where to be at the right time, I define mine as improvising when the option to strike one time is not there, and you do an overhead kick” First of, you're obviously trying to evade the standard definition of what playmaking is in the sport to suit your narrative, which is hundred percent flawed. - The ability to beat your opponent with a quick action leaving him for dust= Dribbling - Reading the spaces and knowing where to be at the right time= Positioning - Improvising when the option to strike one time isn't there= Decision making The balance generally favors Lionel Messi in all three aspects the statistics are there to back it up. ✓“That's how I define mine. I'm in love with Ronaldo's playing style, and these assists you speak of, Messi and Ronaldo played in the UCL, Messi even longer yet he couldn't break his assist tally”. Well facts don't care about your feelings and football transcends one club competition. The strongest GOAT case isn’t built on one trophy or one record. It’s built on dominating almost every meaningful metric the sport has to offer. That’s why Lionel Messi’s résumé doesn’t just compete with history, it defines it. And no Cristiano has had more UCL appearances than Lionel Messi, he's obviously played more games. ✓“Ronaldo is a more complete attacker than Lionel Messi” What are the metrics used to judge attackers? - Goals - Playmaking - Dribbles - Progression - Efficiency Ronaldo generally stands out most in goals, aerial ability, penalty-box movement, finishing, and shot volume. Messi stands out in goals, assists, key passes, dribbling, chance creation, progressive carrying, playmaking, and overall attacking involvement. So while both are among the greatest attackers ever, Messi's statistical profile spans a wider range of attacking metrics, whereas Ronaldo's is more concentrated around elite goalscoring and finishing.
