I testify that Jesus is the Christ. That He lives. That He loves each of us and wants the very best for us in the world and throughout eternity. I have listened to the voice of the Spirit bear record to me of this truth and nothing the world has can diminish this knowledge because it is pure light. I love the Lord Jesus. He is my salvation. He is my advocate with the Father. He is my friend.

LOL. See quotes above (aka doctrine). What Joseph Smith said is not canonized or doctrine. He did not have this talk written down. I’ll quote from the official Church on this: “Since that sermon, known as the King Follett discourse, the doctrine that humans can progress to exaltation and godliness has been taught within the Church. Lorenzo Snow, the Church’s fifth President, coined a well-known couplet: “As man now is, God once was: As God now is, man may be.” Little has been revealed about the first half of this couplet, and consequently little is taught. When asked about this topic, Church President Gordon B. Hinckley told a reporter in 1997, “That gets into some pretty deep theology that we don’t know very much about.” When asked about the belief in humans’ divine potential, President Hinckley responded, “Well, as God is, man may become. We believe in eternal progression. Very strongly.”

@RandomLDS @Nick_The_Hat @realDrTT Do you disagree with your prophet? “God himself was once as we are now.” “We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea.” —Joseph Smith Catholics believe God is eternal & uncreated. We are not the same.

LOL. I said doctrine. Book of Mormon Title Page: “And also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations” Article of Faith 1 — “We believe in God, the Eternal Father” “God is “self‑existent.”- Joseph Smith, Lectures on Faith “God is eternal.” - Lorenzo Snow “God is an unchanging and everlasting being.” - Elder Neal A. Maxwell “God is the Supreme Being, uncreated, eternal.” - Elder Bruce R. McConkie “He is the God of eternity.” - President Gordon B. Hinckley “Our Heavenly Father is an eternal being.” - President Russell M. Nelson “God is the author of eternal law.” - President Dallin H. Oaks “He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” - President Henry B. Eyring “God is everlasting and unchanging.” - Elder Jeffrey R. Holland “Our Heavenly Father is an eternal being.” - President Russell M. Nelson “God’s grace is infinite and eternal.” - Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf “The Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” - Elder David A. Bednar “God… is from everlasting to everlasting.” - Moroni 7:22 “God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” - Mormon 9:9 “He is unchangeable from all eternity to all eternity.” - Alma 7:20 “I am the beginning and the end.” - Ether 3:14 “Intelligence… was not created or made.” - D&C 93:29 “From eternity to eternity he is the same.” - D&C 76:4 “There is a God in heaven, who is infinite and eternal.” - D&C 20:17

@RandomLDS That’s not God you’re trusting. That’s your own intuition or gut. God gives us our answers through His church for the last 2,000 years. You’ve rejected His church for a man 1800 years later.

The creeds were supposed to protect Christianity, but they mostly boxed it in. Instead of preserving the nature of God, they ended up defining a loving, personable, God in a way that no one can recognize Him.

@RocksTorum @ryanswalters73 Lol what? Not only can LDS read anything theological we want, we could do it openly in Church if we wanted to. Try reading the Book of Mormon in your evangelical church and let me know how it works out for you 😹

@ryanswalters73 I can guarantee the majority of LDS followers have not read this book. They are not allowed to read, "anti-LDS" literature. Basically, they are not allowed to deprogram the brainwashing.

"The only 'miracle' that Joseph Smith performed was to hoodwink millions of LDS followers to believe in his fantasies,” wrote Fawn Brodie. The Book of Mormon is a “highly original and imaginative fiction.” Who was Fawn Brodie? Once a Mormon herself, her father was a bishop and held other high positions in the LDS church. Her grandfather was president of BYU. Her paternal uncle was an apostle and the 9th president of the church. For her expose on Joseph Smith, she was excommunicated in June 1946 for apostasy.

@YourCalvinist I agree with this! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stands way above, pointing the way to Christ.

Lizzie’s oral arguments were the same as her written ones on X. It’s simply amazing that even after countless people have explained LDS theology to her, she still acts like it’s the first day of class. Most of those people on this discussion sounded that way - super eager to throw a gotcha question because they simple didn’t listen to you patiently explaining what we believe. I thought it was really funny that they jumped on the chance to ask an ex-member what we “really” believe. Funny how they didn’t interrupt him.🤣

@RandomLDS Its your doctrine. If you don’t live by it that’s on you but your doctrine states that God was a man and man will be god. This is antithetical to christian ideology

@Airrace True. An absence of alcohol does not mean a life without addiction. It just means a life without the potential of that addiction.

@RandomLDS They struggle with it because addictions are mental, not drinking doesn’t mean someone can’t be addicted to something else.

Not drinking alcohol is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Too many people I know struggle with that vice and it’s not something I have to worry about.
