They say it’s the teachers’ fault. “Parents have told me if I can’t handle teenage boys then I need to ‘work in a fucking nursery’.” How do we expect to fight the algorithms radicalising them, or the AI technology that makes harassment so easy and disproportionately affects women, if the actual humans caring for these children don’t also act? Downstream of this are censorious laws like the Online Safety Act, if parents abdicate responsibility to the state. If these are the sons being raised, the fathers should be ashamed.

If you watched the videos you'd see Smith's criticisms are all valid, he's a huge fan of Johto and approached it from a good faith game design perspective. He even led a project where all the major problems with the games are fixed while still trying to feel like a vanilla game, not a rom hack. Once you play Crystal Legacy, you won't wanna play the original version. It's a love letter. Growing up is realizing that most pokemon games are not very good and have at least one or two major issues affect the quality of the experience. Wanting them to be better and having the resources to improve them is pretty awesome, actually.

@Errol1001 @ZavorEklar @rpgfancom The only thing i disliked about 3 was that the party members weren't their own characters. I loved dragon quest builders 1 and 2, and I know each of them are based on dq 1 and 2 so im looking forward to seeing what partially inspired the builders games.

Generally very challenging and fun games. 3 remake was good but these are quite a bit better. 8 & 11 are also favorites in the series. 6&9 are both job games so they will probably feel like 7 unfortunately. 4&5 are probably good to wait for remake!

@Errol1001 @ZavorEklar @rpgfancom Thats exactly what I thought. Another one was being unable to buy weapons from shops. I didn't do that because I didn't want to eliminate an entire mechanic from the game, on a second playthrough it might be fun to try all of them at once one day.

But there was 'harder enemies' and 'level cap' one which both sounded good. originally I tried to skip lots of fights to avoid overleveling, but I don't really WANT to skip fights.. >

You should give 11s a try, I remember alot of the modifiers being annoying so I just didn't pick those. The only mainline games ive played so far are 8, 11, 3 remake, and 7 reimagined. Haven't done 1 and 2 yet.

@Resmire1 @ZavorEklar @rpgfancom I see. I only played at release in 2017, so it's pretty hard to directly compare to anything. was pretty distinct in my memory that it was very easy and I was interested in the 11S options to make it harder. 7 is a very weird DQ game.

@Errol1001 @ZavorEklar @rpgfancom I played both, 11 on release and later s. S would be the most recent version i played and i did use several of the difficulty modifiers. I just dont remember the original being too easy, it didn't stick out to me like 7 reimagined's difficulty has.

@ZavorEklar @Errol1001 @rpgfancom I dont remember 11 being too easy. Certainly easier than 8 but not too easy. Im close to completing the 7 reimagined and while ive enjoyed it, it was definitely on the too easy side even on the hard difficulty.

@Errol1001 @rpgfancom 11 is so easy. Its a shame really. It could have been more difficult on normal like older games.
