@heyandras @ImSh4yy @coolifyio I still don't get it. At the pricing page it says: "1 Server (bring your own server)" So does it come with a server or do I have do go somewhere else and get first a vps? What's then the difference if I just install it on the vps by myself? Sorry maybe I'm dumb 🤔

Yes, the landing page absolutely needs a bit more context, or just a detailed blog post and a link on the landing page. 🙂 Usually, the recommended setup is that you have a server for Coolify, and server(s) where you deploy your resources (apps, dbs, etc). The server running Coolify is just a control plane. It regularly checks all your servers, and notifies you if something bad (or good) happens, and a lot other things. So you have to pay for two servers at least, and ofc you need to manage them a bit - not so much as Coolify takes care of a lot of things, even on the server where it is running. + If you need email notifications, you need to pay for an SMTP server/service. With Coolify Cloud’s Basic tier (5$/month,4$/month on a yearly plan), you will get Coolify for the same price if you host it on your own server (server’s price) + free SMTP service + support from me + highly available Coolify + plan to add free s3 storage for your backups. So at the end of the day, you will need to take care less things, for the same price (or a bit cheaper) than if you host it for yourself. Also, you support an indie hacker who cares about you. 💜 Saulo also made a good point here👇

@justmrmendez @heyandras @coolifyio As I understand it, usually you either pay a lot for pre-built docker infrastructure, or you go through a big hassle setting it up yourself on a cheap server With @coolifyio you pay for a cheap server (or many), e.g. on Hetzner, and coolify takes care of the hassle for you

💡I was checking out Clever Cloud and omg. 32 euro (Clever) vs 4.35 euro (Hetzner). Both are not highly available. If I build the docker swarm support for @coolifyio, you could have 7 servers, 14vCPUs, and 14 GB RAM in your swarm cluster, highly available, and auto-scalable at the same price (32 euros). 🤯 (Docker swarm installation would be automated, ofc) + All the good stuff (alerting, monitoring, backups, etc) from Coolify. (Yes, I am hyped)

What is the best Heroku-like PAAS out there? @clever_cloud has been a literal nightmare lately and we need a stable solution.

@heyandras @sunglassesface You describe basically any storage solution. S3, Azure Blob, Google Storage... All provide already this functionality. Who would be your target audience? If developers, they probably use one of the above...

@sunglassesface I was not clear enough. The idea is similar to Github, but not related to it. It would be an app with an upload button. You just drop in an image, and you will get a link (with CDN) that you can share everywhere. You can change to be public or private.

💡A random SaaS idea: You know, if you paste an image on GitHub to a textarea, you get “free image hosting”. Would something like that would be useful? #buildinpublic

I bootstrapped Stagetimer from €0 to over €10,000/month in Germany over 3 years. My country is known for tight regulation and strict tax laws. It discourages many solo founders from trying. That's why I distilled everything I learned into this guide. Importantly it talks about navigating German bureaucracy and handling taxes. If you've ever thought about launching a SaaS business in Germany, read this. 👇 lukashermann.dev/writing/bootst…

@bytebln I use currently only one address for all transactional emails. And yes, the responses are really hilarious. I send an confirmation code, guess how many reply and send the code back in the reply... 🙄

Instead of using "no-reply@domain.com" for automated emails, use a real email address, they say. The answers you receive from some people might make you ponder the great mysteries of the universe: why we are here on this planet and how we have survived so far 🌌✨

Question to Indian folks How do you receive payments from your international clients. Stripe - requires a registered business. Wise - Not all clients have wise accounts. Payoneer - It's the slowest payment platform I have ever seen. Any other platforms to receive payments? (If not, then who knows, maybe I will create a platform. Lol) #buildinpublic

Good morning ☕️, we are doing #buildinpublic here not only to share victories and great revenues but also to share our mistakes, right? I will do so and share a very stupid mistake that I made the last half year without knowing it...😅 A Thread 🧵...

@adloftseo @Marie_Haynes I'm not an SEO expert either but I can spot if text has been written to get some more keywords onto the page. From a SEO perspective clearly necessary. But another order would serve maybe both. Could bringing the recipe to the top of the page increase the helpfulness?

@SebastianM6L @Marie_Haynes Why do we judge content from an SEOs perspective? Our experience of the internet is far different from the average person. Real users may be interested in the stories since that’s how good recipes came about.

Here's what we know of the September Helpful Content Update so far. It is heavily impacting many niche sites and recipe bloggers. Sites with conversations such as Reddit and Quora are seeing big boosts. I share my thoughts on what the system is rewarding and what it likely will take for recovery. mariehaynes.com/the-september-…

DamnGood.Tools have been acquired 🥳 It is a small but my first true exit. It will allow me to focus on other products and money will give me peace of mind for a while. I have put my heart into it and I feel a bit empty. But I am genuinely happy for the new owner of the product—Kriang Khanijomdi (@_kriang_). He has experience and plans to grow it further. My baby is in good hands now 🙏 I sold the project with the help of Borderline.biz. It was free and I had leads from it. But I decided to pay the fee to the owner voluntarily. I want to support alternative indie platforms for acquiring businesses. Numbers at the moment of selling: 🫂 42K unique visitors 📈 100K page views 🥈 the top product of the day on Product Hunt 📣 mentioned in popular national and international newsletters like Morning Brew, Ben’s Bites, and others ⭐️ 72 forks and 500+ GitHub stars 💸 made $509.89 in the past few weeks since adding payments ❤️ testimonials from the most respected makers in the community and inspiration for other makers All this would be impossible without your support and love. I am tremendously grateful to the indie community and friends for your support along the journey ❤️ If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will address them in my first newsletter issue at newsletter.dmytrokrasun.com with all the details and lessons.

@BielMarcus1 I would not say it's bad perse, actually it's quite good after I tweaked it and now the costs per month are reasonable. I consider only an alternative just in case and to be prepared if something goes south in future. What do you dislike on docker?

@BielMarcus1 Google App Engine. Is basically something like docker behind but abstracting everything away.
