Hough has huge NIHL numbers But for comparison Matt (clan legend) Haywood averaged 20 eihl points a year but in his first NIHL season hit 113 Hough being an import slot will need to produce 35-40 points surely to make it worthwhile?

@steelermark @HanClanSolo77 I’m presuming you mean it may open teams up to giving a national player a better opportunity, but from the amount of offers I know Brown has received I’m sure one of them must have had decent assurances. Brown is just happy in Leeds, 3 year contract proves that.

@SteelerBlogs @HanClanSolo77 He’s still young. It’s always said, if you take a scorer from the league below no point putting him on the 4th as a grinder. If he plays top 6 minutes and delivers then maybe it opens the door to others such as Brown.

@HanClanSolo77 @steelermark His only good seasons outside of England were Junior A and Minor leagues, that said he has decent size and has looked a natural goal scorer. At his age, given the right line mates he could be a shock, we will have to see.

@steelermark @HanClanSolo77 I made this point not long ago, Wallace will have his finger on the pulse of Brits coming from the NIHL but usually imports are ones who can’t hang in the elite. It’s interesting to see who’s been keeping tabs on over the years if he was planning for national not elite.

@HanClanSolo77 Tim Wallace should know as he’s come from the same league. Be interesting though. If he plays a top 6 role will he get the points required. Be an interesting experiment for other clubs to watch.

I'm more than alright with this. Has always been sturdy and dependable for most of the time he has played here. Obviously the injury last year was unfortunate. Hoping the rest of the D core is right handed for balance and also new to the club now.

Try to pay little mind to the WhatsApp & Facebook moaners but seeing people complain we’ve re-signed a Grandslam’er is somehow a bad thing, I’d be interested to know what Grandslam players people see were a problem over the last two seasons as opposed to the new guys.

Diffley’s re-signing is a huge one. The standout defenceman of the season, taking a big step forward offensively without sacrificing the calm, reliable presence that makes him so effective at the back. Quite possibly the smoothest skater Sheffield has ever seen.

@Door14Hockey Finding the sweet spot between clubs making the money they need and not ripping fans off is razor thin. Forget “what we used to spend”, compared to other entertainment in 2026, I’d personally say 20-25 an adult is the region it should be in, kids £10? £60-70 for a family of 4.

Watson’s move to Fife makes plenty of sense. He’s now too old for a two-way deal and wants to be playing at EIHL level. The challenge is that Steele and IBN are just further along in their development right now. Hopefully he gets the ice time in Fife to show what he can do.

@steelermark @johnbiggins678 I’ve spoke highly of Ivan in a previous post, I even spoke to friends how I preferred him in the lineup to Shuds. Shuds wasn’t with it this season hence why I think a change of scenery is needed for him. Our Brit core is back to resembling that of the grandslam year I’d say.

@SteelerBlogs @johnbiggins678 Nothing to do with him leaving. IBN is a better all round player, as proven when he took Shudra’s place in the lineup. Cole will give you solid 4th line minutes. You wouldn’t put him in your top 6 like Whistle can do if required. Same for IBN. 👍

With Brits hard to come by right now, somebody was always going to make a signing that didn’t exactly ooze confidence. A lot felt Shudra fell short in Sheffield this year, but sometimes a change of scenery is exactly what a player needs. Were the expectations too high? Maybe.
