A great question. registered nurse is a protected title, nurse isn’t. The public often don’t know the difference in roles, some employers and individuals intentionally mislead patients by implying a person is an RN. There is a tendency to refer to all  members of the  nursing workforce as nurses. Protecting the title nurse could imply nursing support workers and nursing associates are not valued. I really wanted to make the point that is not the case, as this  might not be said enough & the intention of protecting pt safety be misunderstood.  The RCN represents the nursing workforce from all four countries there are differences between countries in nursing roles. @alisonleary1 @GeriatricEmt Absolutely, having studied nurses views about robots in nursing we must be absolutely clear that robots can only assist skilled professionals with complicated tasks. Nurses use complex skills and judgement to keep people safe in their safety vigilant role.

RCN South East Council Saturday is a great day to vote in RCN Elections. Sally Bassett is a great candidate in South East, she takes time to understand front line nurses and is determined that the RCN will better serve its members. Use your vote.

RCN Council Really important that RCN members vote for regional council representatives and the President, Vice President Elections. I nominated Sally Bassett for South East Council because her wisdom, tenacity and leadership will deliver for all nurses & nursing associates.

This is deception, probably fraudulent and misleading at best. Families look to nurses to protect their loved ones. South East RCN I'm voting for Sally because she really understands nursing & it's professional, policy and operational dimensions and will ensure the RCN supports nurses and nursing to deliver the best of clinical care through professional support and political activism.

Prejudice and bias towards nurses and nursing is a key finding of my doctoral work. Alison's JAN editorial strongly resonances with the intersecting cultures I have named as Nursism. It can impact on the way executive nurse leadership is enacted and whether they are viewed as successful by their executive colleagues. Culture affects all nurses. The evidence is mounting, Nursism names it, its time to call it out.
