100% agree. Yet again, nurses in NI will be out of pay parity with the rest of the UK, despite ministerial commitment tha we would never be out of parity again. Every year we are left behind and have to take action just to be paid the same. Any wonder nurses are choosing to work elsewhere.

Wouldn’t it be great if every other public sector worker had an independent pay review body who’s remit is not fettered and their recommendation decisions are binding and not subject to any affordability considerations.

I’ve noticed that some people promoting “success” and “wealth” use lines like: “A main reason to get rich is so you don’t have to agree with stupid people.” “Real freedom is being able to say no without explaining yourself to idiots.” Twenty years ago I worked as an assistant to one of Sydney’s most successful entrepreneurs. A recipient of the Order of Australia. He was one of the most humble and influential businessmen I’ve ever met. If anyone had spoken like this around him, he would have shut it down immediately. Not because he lacked confidence, but because he believed in treating people with respect. In my experience, real success rarely sounds loud or dismissive. It tends to show up as humility, curiosity, and respect for others. Statements like the ones above don’t feel particularly motivational to me. Often they seem more about boosting the speaker’s ego than building something meaningful. #amandaray #Humility #Respect #ValuesMatter
