In a Hausa interview with DW Hausa, Ishak Rabe Abubakar, son of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (rtd.), disputed the Katsina State Government's claim that their father died from complications related to diabetes. According to him, the General died as a direct result of a snake bite while in the bandits' camp. He also stated that their mother is still being held by the bandits, contrary to reports claiming that she had been released. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) convey its deepest sympathies to the Abubakar family, his colleagues and all Nigerians.
