@TristanBauman @MaxellCorp Luckily, my old Technics seperate tape player is still going nicely after all these years... not that I've tried the majority of my tapes... but yeah, I get what you mean with cars. I see there are some 3.5" analogue to digital USB convertors though.

@TDK_Chiptune @MaxellCorp It’s been a persistent problem as a collector. Dolby NR tapes sound horrible on modern players that don’t apply the correct compensation and I can’t listen to them like that. Had to buy a Walkman and use a Bluetooth transmitter for the car because no analog inputs on cars anymore

@TristanBauman @MaxellCorp You have a good point. Most of my cassettes will be either Dolby B or C... I still love the fact that one of "my generation" of manufacturers is back making this sort of thing. Personally I've tried hard to stay with physical items such as music, games etc.

@MaxellCorp I already do that on an old player with proper Dolby NR switch and tape type select. But for a newbie his Dolby B encoded tapes will sound bad! Many people quickly abandon the recent cassette hype because they find tapes sound bad - but the real problem is the players, just FYI…

I have a confession. I'm always scared to share footage from my game. 5+ years solo dev will do that i guess... So to fight this fear, here’s 5 minutes of raw gameplay from one of the first levels. No edits. No hiding!! The game's called Blood And Mead, you can wishlist it on steam ( Link in reply⬇️) #gamedev #indiegame

@Wishitwasthewa1 My sons CTF matured earlier this year. They tried to get him to register for digital ID to get the money. Didn’t happen of course.

XL RECORDINGS
XL RECORDINGS@XLRECORDINGS·
The Prodigy’s ‘Firestarter’ turns 30 today 🖤
Released on XL Recordings in 1996, the track became one of the defining records of the decade. Its iconic video, directed by Walter Stern and filmed in a disused London Underground tunnel, remains one of the most recognisable visuals of the 90s.
The stark, black-and-white shoot wasn’t the first video made for the track. An earlier, higher-budget version had already been filmed but was ultimately scrapped, leading the band back to a stripped-back concept that placed Keith Flint front and centre and captured the performance that would come to define the record.
Firestarter went on to top the UK charts for three weeks and became a worldwide hit.

@ComputerLove_ I’ve never understood how someone found that a car touchscreen is safer than physical tactile controls that you can find with muscle memory and touch, not sight. Keep your eyes on the road.

@MatOmbler There’s also a shed load of UK based game composers prolific in the earlier decades who are largely forgotten about these days, even though they had a large part to play in what video game music was and is now. A lot was not orchestral since the tech wasn’t quite so capable.

Hot take: LOTS of video game concerts are taking place at the moment, which is amazing, but I genuinely worry we'll reach a point of audience saturation (especially in UK) if we don't see live performances of game music expand outside of traditional orchestral arrangements.

@Wishitwasthewa1 100% - gonna be so many people who don’t understand tech being told “oh thats out of date, you have to replace it”. Apple and Microsoft are all the same. If you can get the software you need to run on your PC, use Linux 100%. Just like that War thing, not very Green either.

@KrisVanD2 @F1 I used a number of them as titles for some of the replay tunes I composed for the F1 games back in the day: He's hugging the apex like it's his favourite Grandmother The penultimate last lap but one Excuse me while I interrupt myself

In loving memory of Graeme Murray Walker who passed away #OnThisDay in 2021. What is your favorite Murray Walker quote...... I'll go with this one,“There are seven winners of the Monaco Grand Prix on the starting line today, and four of them are Michael Schumacher.” Rest in Peace 🕊️ #F1 #RetroF1

@BertrandLe74343 @ColonelFalcon Nah, it’s because the affordable PC sound cards of that time only have basic 4 operator FM synthesis whereas the Amiga/SNES etc could play samples (recordings of real instruments, albeit with not a lot of RAM to store those samples).

@ColonelFalcon Right, I never actually played on either Amiga or Dos but I DID KNOW FOR A FACT one of theses had better music Its the other version that had the better music while Dos ports have the reputation of downgrading the music, something disk space being more cramped

@jonathan_vdw I think ‘fun’ more than anything. I’m certainly a fan of the Jarre type arps and bass lines for sure…. But yes, I’d also want something polyphonic as well and the Prophet has to be up there too…. Although maybe I’d go for something digital for that perhaps.

@TDK_Chiptune Depends a bit on what purpose it needs to serve. Pads, Bass, ARPs, experimental stuff?

If you were going to buy one synthesiser, what would it be? I’ve had an urge to own an ARP2600 in some shape or form (preferably the Korg version). One day I will have space for some hardware….

@AnxiousTomoko I guess it's not a problem now I know where it's put them, just took a bit of headscratching. Older versions of their installer allowed you to set the installation folder for the plugins but not any more.

@TDK_Chiptune on linux ln -s /from/path /to/path on windows I think it's reverse and i forget exact command, something like mklink /D E:\to\path C:\from\path on mac should be identical to linux

So Native Instruments Native Access 2 has taken away the ability to set your own VST plugin directory. There was my scratching my head as to why they don't load on this new install. And what is it with NI and Izotope not allowing you to install legacy plugins any more. GRRRR! :(
