ALERT: US Coast Guard jumps onto a runaway boat and safely stops it in Maryland. Authorities say the man operating the vessel suddenly fell overboard, and the Coast Guard had to intercept and stop the boat. @froglov3 @BlisterPearl @nonlinear_james Not for food, I've worked with multiple, they struggle to give away food, clothes, resources, etc. Qualification is often literally based on your word and nothing else. We even know people lie about number of kids, dependents, etc., and we still give them stuff.

@bchesky @JSchwarz9 Reading your replies makes me want to give it another shot, but it was so bad. We used it for a long time. I finally gave up in 2021 when every other stay had us arriving to something entirely different from the pictures, broken amenities, dirty, etc. Hotels never looked so good.

@JSchwarz9 Our stock price went up 5x in the run up to the IPO. This is not an excuse for the last 5 years, but we’ve rebuilt the company from the ground up in that time, and we anticipate better times ahead. The story isn’t over.

@GaTechAlum_IE92 @johnnyutah @AmericanAir He seems to be mistaken. PSA operates flight 5568 regularly scheduled for 4:13PM between CHS and DCA. The flight booked would've been 4:13PM, a later change moved it back, then a last minute change moved it forward. You need to show up for the booked time.

What was the ORIGINAL departure time. It must’ve been before 5 PM when you booked it. something similar happened to me before on a delayed flight My original time was 4 PM. They sent a text about a delay till 6 PM. And at the last minute, they moved it up to 4:45pm So now I go to the airport at the scheduled time even if they send me a delay hours ahead of time They can always pull it back up. So that sucks.

There is no worse airline than @AmericanAir None. It’s not even close. 5:23 departure 3:23 receive email flight delayed until 5:38 Driving over, notice flight says 5:00 departure. What? It had to be a mistake. Boarding pass now says 5:00 departure with a 5:23 schedule. Should not matter, because the gate closes 15 minutes early, right? Get to the gate 19 minutes before scheduled departure. 5:04 for you math wizards. I made it, right? Wrong. No compensation. No care. 120k miles flown last year. I’m done flying American. Pivoted back to @Delta and couldn’t be happier. Thanks @landondonovan for reminding me to post this debacle.

Bank of America studied the debit and credit transactions of millions of Americans. The pullback on spending outside of necessities is unlike anything they have ever seen. Domino's said consumers do not even want their $7 carry out pizza. $7. A whole pizza. One of the cheapest food options available. People cannot justify $7 for a pizza. And the administration is saying the economy is fine. Believe Domino's.

The world’s first trillionaire pays the same amount into Social Security as an American making $184,500.   Social Security is currently set to run out by 2032. We need to lift the cap on taxable income NOW and hold Elon Musk and the ultrarich accountable.

@BobbyTables42 @vintagemapstore The Mississippi River unlocks much of the US, even Nebraska by the Missouri River, which can receive ocean going vessels, so I don't think that's what they meant by landlocked.

@vintagemapstore The question is does reachability by boat from the ocean through a river or canal counts as not landlocked. If it does, Swirzerland, Austira and Hungary are not landlocked Countries. I mean, a state isn't a country, but my question is do rivers and canals count?

Maybe I'm missing something, but when did "delivery" start meaning "left by the curb"? The house is right there. The front door is right there. Yet somehow the entire order got dropped off at the edge of the street like it's a community pickup station. Now I still have to carry cases of water, groceries, paper products, and everything else all the way back to the house myself. At that point, what exactly am I paying a delivery fee for? The part that really gets me is that anyone walking by could have helped themselves to whatever they wanted before I even noticed it was there. I understand if there are safety concerns, locked gates, aggressive dogs, or other obstacles. But when the path to the front door is completely open, leaving everything at the curb just feels lazy. Am I being unreasonable, or would you be annoyed if your "delivery" ended at the street instead of your front door?

I read a story in which the author, whose hero was Texas, mentioned someone taking a "slice" of Frito pie, and thus exposed himself as a poseur. In a different story, by a different author, the hero went to Waffle House and bought a Belgian waffle - making it clear he had never in fact visited a Waffle House. In the Walking Dead, they go from Florida to South Carolina and can't find a single firearm in any house. "Huh" I thought. "The screenwriters are from Los Angeles." What examples can you give of a writer unintentionally giving away his lack of knowledge?

@RayFink0231 Tom Thumb does this sometimes too, haven't figured out why, the expiration date is still way far out. I always assumed it was just beef that would be expiring soon, but hasn't been butchered and packed yet? Unsure. Tastes great though.

@snackolator I make this at home, literally just garlic powder mixed with margarine left to sit overnight. It's not healthy, but maybe healthier than what this is. Certainly not worse. Tastes the same, and consistency is the same at room temp.

@financedystop Is this a loophole because the municipality doesn't allow multi-family units? I don't see why they wouldn't just build townhomes here. The square footage under air per acre of land would be the same or better. This doesn't make sense to me otherwise.
