The targetted assassination of the leadership of a sovereign nation by the so called leaders of the democratic world and the killing of multitudes of innocent people is despicable and deserves strong condemnation, no matter what the proclaimed reason for it is. It is tragic that multiple nations have now been dragged into conflict. The world needs peace not more unnecessary wars. Those in charge of it would do well to remember Mahatma Gandhi’s words: An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. I do hope that having genuflected before the Prime Minister of Israel and President Trump, our Prime Minister makes every effort to bring all Indian citizens in the affected countries back home to safety.

The police’s real responsibility was to shut down toll plazas, stop people from entering the highway, turn vehicles back, and identify and assist patients and passengers in emergency situations. Tanker management should have been handled by the NDRF and technical experts. In such a sensitive situation, which minister or secretary-level officer from the state was present on the spot? After information was received, was a helpline activated? When did the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers get informed about the situation, and what instructions did they give? The logs of these instructions must be made public. What exactly did the Mumbai–Pune Highway Control Room do? How much toll did IRB collect during this period, how much manpower was deployed to handle the situation, and which VVIPs were evacuated using convoys while common citizens remained stranded? This information must be disclosed. The government must apologise to the people for what happened. We were taught in school that Mahatma Gandhi returned his Kaiser-i-Hind medal awarded by the British to protest against the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The reality is somewhat different. In his letter of August 1920 to Viceroy Chelmford, Gandhiji wrote that he returned this and other medals "in connection with the Khilafat movement" of August 1920. Gandhiji wrote: "Valuable as these honours have been to me, I cannot wear them with an easy conscience, so long as my Mussalman countrymen have to labour under a wrong done to their religious sentiment." Jallianwala Bagh was "an additional cause for grave dissatisfaction". The Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place in April 1919. Gandhiji returned the medals in August 1920. So, the time gap in itself demonstrates that the returning the medals was not directly linked to the massacre. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

you're exemplifying Gandhiji as an astute politician.. He most certainly was! Having knowledge & information isn't bad... Acting on it at the most opportune moment is politics! How can we judge him, after more than hundred years, without acknowledging the circumstances and limitations of that era!!!
