Can We Identify The Human Athletic BASICS & Turn Them Into Step-by-Step Systems For ALL AGES? Summary: Accelerating and decelerating are more basic for humans than jumping. HILLS are a lost basic that help acceleration and deceleration stay strong as people age. (We can solve this regardless of ability level or hill/equipment access via sleds, hill treadmills, and step-up-to-step-down progression!) DEEP SQUATS are a lost basic that support the deceleration and jumping! (We can solve this regardless of ability level or equipment access via heel elevation, counterbalance, and rebuilding one side at a time!) JUMPING can then simplify to SKIPPING as a more natural human basic, with HOPPING as a further, somewhat natural progression. (My mom is 72, can SPRINT, has incredible MOBILITY, and the only jump I’ve used in 8 years of rehabbing and coaching her is: SKIP. Meanwhile, even the top track athletes in the world use skips and hops at higher levels!) I share all I know for free here. @kneeovertoesguy I was inspired by Ben Patrick to rebuild strength in my right knee that was giving me some pain while sprinting. I'm 62. You can rebuild at any age. He is a great resource. #avoidsurgery

I’ve always had bad knees. Impact sports, lifting, farm work, and an overall active lifestyle, have taken their toll. 6 months ago I finally had enough of the constant pain and discomfort. Pain when walking, sitting, laying down, and of course, doing what I loved: playing sports. So, I went to a doctor. I was bounced around to four more doctors until the last doctor finally suggested that I simply… rest. I was ‘diagnosed’ with a small meniscus tear, infrapatella issues, and to cap it off, persistent patella tendinitis. I was devastated. I obliged and rested. For months. The pain subsided for a bit, I stopped playing the sports I love. I became depressed, but hey, at least my knee stopped hurting. I still haven’t returned to playing sports due to fear that it would flare up again and I’d be back at square one. I was careful, I did everything the doctors said. Despire that, the pain is back, and it’s worse this time. Unfortunately for me, there is no “cure”, but ‘pain can be managed’ with rest, ice, and pain medications. And it may come back, without causation, just like it did this week. Of course surgery is an option. But most knee-related procedures have a high failure rate that often result in more pain, and as an otherwise healthy person in my 20s, all of the doctors I’ve seen have advised against it. So now, I’m at a crossroads again. Should I choose to see another set of doctors that will all tell me the same thing and opt for another 6 months of rest and hope for the best, or should I look into alternative options, such as holistic medicine, stem cell therapy, peptides, and more experimental approaches? To anyone that has ever lived with persistent and chronic pain without a resolution, I am so sorry, and I hope it gets better for you.
