The South African government is BROKE - now they want YOUR pension! After years of corruption, mismanagement, and reckless spending, the government is eyeing pension funds to bail itself out. Instead of fixing Eskom, reducing wasteful expenditure, or holding looters accountable, they’re looking at YOUR hard-earned retirement savings as a solution. Are we as South Africans expected to trust the same politicians who’ve bankrupted SOEs and crippled the economy to “responsibly manage” pension funds? Or is this just another desperate move to kick the can down the road while citizens pay the price? Pension funds should be completely off-limits, especially to the South African Government!!

@PierreR3635 2018. Finished residency in 2022. Was a lecturer at OP for 5 years. Covid lockdowns really nailed those students. We could see the effects on the students for years. Some of the students are super talented, but I would lie if I said I wasn't concerned about others.

Wow. Got a mouthful from an MD this morning because we gave his dog Panado instead of Paracetamol. After gently explaining to him that...Panado is Paracetamol he blew up and argued that it is not, and he is going to get a pharmacist to confirm what he is saying. 🤣 Ladies and gentlemen, a doctor. The person you trust with your health. If you ever wondered how the hell the governments got away with the Covid travesty, there is your answer.

Congratulations. It is wonderful to see simulation being used as an educational tool in Africa.

@YolandaWalsh Seems wrong to like this ... We have expected staff to continue as before, we have not talked about the trauma. We see our colleagues obviously experiencing PTSD but do nothing. What does it say about us when we cannot, or do not, help our friends and colleagues.

Warning: This whole thread is incredibly triggering if you worked in an ICU at the height of the Covid pandemic. Bawled my eyes out. Very little has been done to address the trauma and moral distress experienced by clinicians.

@MalcolmMiller6 @crit_sa Those guidelines are not representative of what is happening in SA and should be revised. They are not helpful, and appear to have been written by persons with an agenda ... The blessing is that guidelines are only that, a guide, and do not have to be adhered to.
