@_georgina666 to be slightly fair, HS is a nazi and an outwardly passionate antisemite. he is not asking that question from a place of palestinian solidarity, but from a place of antisemitic conspiracy.

@ontologoff UAE connections to Ethiopia (main supplier of government drones for counterinsurgency) and to RSF in Sudan, as well as Israel flirting hard with ETH make this very pressing now IMO. UAE has basically a full land corridor of allies allowing materiel and whatever else to get to RSF

The US has a base in Djibouti. Somaliland has engaged in a mutual recognition agreement with Israel and has expressed willingness to allow military, political and economic cooperation...making it a legit target if it rolls over for the US and Israel in the war.

I keep saying the anti-imperialist left could give a shit about the Horn. It's actually so telling that even basic research isn't conducted and they either parrot imperialist talking points or create romanticised fantasies of what our societies are like

@NLH2224 If you want proof….just…look at Somalia…which has technically been the world’s only functioning anarchist society. There’s a reason it is rife with internal conflict. Because the outside pressure is fracturing it internally.

@TiskTusk menelik, hs, mengistu and meles had longevity because of the way they cut deals with foreign powers. menelik spent far more time doing deals with the italians, even months after adwa, than fighting battles. hs appeased u.s.+europe, mengistu ussr, and meles again the west

So, by statistical evaluation, we can conclude that the more adept and tenacious a leader is in warring years, the more likely he is to rule over long periods of time.

Those who experience devastating war years rule the longest. Tewodros -> Was a wartime emperor, tried his hardest to industrialize but failed Yohannes -> Fought against Egypt, Died in battle in Sudan Menelik -> Fought against Italians with overwhelming success

@MaxistLeninist i mean, both are true. 9/11 was a unique event in the sense that the world's biggest military didn't defend a huge attack in its country's most significant city. it's a weird take to try to play down the significance of that, what does it achieve?

Kind of a joke that the whole world has to act like 9/11 was some kind of unique tragedy every year when the US terrorises the entire planet every week

@LeePazzini @LeeFMc83 we lose only Ndiaye and Gana. how will Afcon have a big impact on us in terms of squad depth? yes, both are key players but last night showed Moyes can re-figure the midfield without Gana. a loan striker in january is important regardless of Afcon

@LeeFMc83 Yes mate. We were stretched to the limit last night & will be even more so on Saturday with no Tim. Does Patterson even come in? Forest’s squad is pretty decent too. Huge game.

We simply must roll the dice and invest in January. Big chance for someone to get European footy this season and they don’t come around often. No Branthwaite and our strikers have scored 1 goal in 14 games yet we are a win from top 4. Not at the level? Do me a favour ⬇️

@Compounding365 @MartinSLewis not sure it's that, but he should maybe just stick to comparing credit cards. he's out of his depth when it comes to something like this, that requires economic understanding. ends up advocating against the people he claims to be helping. and, tbh, i don't think he knows he is.

I think we may finally see some changes to the Lifetime ISA in next week's budget. Currently if you try and use your savings to buy a property over £450,000, never mind you don't get the 25% bonus, you have to pay an effective fine of 6.25% of your money to the state. I think one of two things will happen (i've been pushing for them) - They get rid of the fine if you're buying a bigger property (so you don't get the bonus but do get all your money back) - They increase the threshold to somewhere in the £500,000s (which is where it would be with inflation if it'd increased since 2017 when it was launched) Or maybe both - nah actually - unlikely, only one!
