@TacticallyMatt That’s completely different. That’s an arrangement between clubs, no external contracts. A restriction on shirt prices would need every club to renegotiate their contracts with their kit suppliers. They can be worth huge amounts.

@KieranJ_1979 And I get that too. But clubs would have sold out away ends before a £30 ticket cap too. I refuse to believe something can't be done about it

@TacticallyMatt I get that, but that’s supply and demand sadly. There are no real alternatives but whilst people still pay it (& loads do) then they won’t bring prices down. I just don’t buy kits as I don’t see any value in at all, but others love having them & that’s the price you pay

This is like the old firestick stuff. Stop pricing people out of football, whether that be watching it on TV, buying tickets, or merchandise, and they'll be less of a market for stuff like this
Sky Sports News@SkySportsNews

City of Edinburgh Trading Standards officials seized 58,000 counterfeit football shirts & kit, all intended to be sold illegally during the World Cup. The kits weighed in at 9 tonnes and had an estimated retail value in excess of £5.5 million 🚨

@TacticallyMatt Nobody can do it in England That’s the point. We’re far too far along the commercialisation route.

@TacticallyMatt Who has a state of the art new stadium, makes big signings & keeps prices affordable to fans? And don’t mention Bayern Munich, that model is unworkable here.

@KieranJ_1979 I think because there is alternatives to fashion it's a bit different. If you want to wear your teams shirt you have to spend x amount or buy a counterfeit, which a lot of people do as the shirts are so expensive

@TacticallyMatt Doesn’t that become a restriction of trade though? Are we then going to want fashion brands to have legislation to ensure there prices are kept reasonable too?

@TacticallyMatt We can have a state of the art new stadium & big signings every summer. Or a game affordable to working class people. Not both.

@KieranJ_1979 I was thinking more legislations in place like the £30 away ticket cap in PL

@TacticallyMatt But if those parties are still making profits then they are not going to reduce prices as the market is there for them. Only way to change is if people start making decisions to just not buy official club stuff at all. Demand sets the price

I think if you can get Doue for under 35m or Spence for 25m region you've done fine I mentioned Norton-Cuffy yesterday as the best value, but I don't think he's as good as other two. I'd be happy to then see the development, low payment high upside signings in other positions, personally

@TacticallyMatt I disagree. Those fees are too high for where Everton are right now. I understand why people want it done because right back has become such a priority, but I don't think committing that much of the budget to one position is the right move at this stage.

The market feels like it's reached another level. I'd rather Everton stayed disciplined than get drawn into inflated fees. Identify players before they become premium assets, let them develop with the squad and enjoy watching the team develop over time.

Everton reportedly interested in signing Jacob Murphy, but what does this mean for Tyler Dibling? Is what Murphy would bring worth halting the development of Dibling even further? Full piece below. roundtable.io/sports/soccer/…

@noBSvilla do feel like even at the age of 28/29 that would have been a bargain and silly to have in the contract. So imagine it came into play recently yeah

@TacticallyMatt I don't know but would take anything from him to get his 155k a week wages off the books😂 We've been wanting him gone for ages. Top player though.
