@SCShipyards Some choices have driven me a bit crazy but yes over all it’s at worst not bad. The musical episode was sorta crappy. The puppet episode coming in is scary to me also.

The frustrating thing is that SNW had outstanding character development, and multiple instances of it. So someone on NuTrek's team knows how the equation works. They're just not allowed to implement it nearly as often as it should be.

@SCShipyards At its core I’d argue that Star Trek is a workplace show. Everyone has their specific job they’re best at and that is where STD failed only one person was good at anything. Snw and lower decks t least got that part mostly right.

Star Trek was, at its core, competence porn: skilled people doing their jobs well & improving each other and themselves in the process. Now it's "identity" porn: every character is most interested in showcasing how special they are, but for hardly any actual, earned reasons.

@SCShipyards I also enjoyed the idea that we as a people could be better than we are now. This is exemplified by the courtesy, respect, professionalism, and kindness of the Star Trek crews.

@McCoolBCB Can’t critique unless you’re actively involved in doing something is always a bad take.

I think the secondary has good quality now. Can still upgrade plenty with the draft, but Durant, Thompson, and Locke have now put the DBs where you would like to be in numbers of NFL-level defenders you don't mind stepping on the field in a game.

@Marcus_Mosher Day 3 is good. 3rd isn’t. Frankly isn’t the draft really about 90 picks long now?

The lack of REAL details on this Terence Steele contract adjustment very much makes me wonder if he just took a pay cut

@derinyar Oh, yeah, sorry. Pike's not bad, but he's way too chummy. Aside from that... yeah, the last legitimately good one was Sisko.

Legitimately the best character of the entirety of SNW, and only appeared in the first season (as a regular). It's kind of weird how Star Trek can keep nailing "super-tech engineer who can pull miracles out of his nethers", but struggles with "halfway-decent captain".

@SCShipyards I agree on that just saying they started with three very good captains and then forgot how.

@derinyar I mean, Scotty, LaForge, O'Brien, Hemmer, Pelia, all outstanding engineers and characters. STD can't even decide who the CO is on a per-episode basis.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms shows a small-scale story in the GOT universe can work. Especially when the episodes are only 30-35 minutes. Don't need a million subplots. Just a lead, his sidekick, an adversary, a love interest.

Revisionist history is wild. Like, "w/ lightsaber choreography that rivaled the prequels" is insanity. They never tried to actually hit each other, as their b-t-s training videos adequately documented, unlike the prequels that burned through dummy sabers. Rent must be due.
