@random_walker Agreed. Alignment (aka good values, fairness, lawfulness, human flourishing, positive externalities... in more mundane contexts) requires technical tools to achieve by can only be defined through democratic governance. Conflating the means with the ends is the problem.

If you see alignment as a technical problem with the solution residing in the model itself, alignment efforts can only succeed if no one in the world is allowed to run AI that doesn't include the alignment tech the self-appointed good guys have blessed. Talk about power seeking.
