@ikazuchizoku @i_kaseki That makes sense. You can say it, I can’t.

@WatcherontheWeb The Germans don’t hate us! Nor do the French or the British.
English

Dear new Japanese friends...
May I beg an explanation of something of you? I'm sure the answer is different for everyone... but... WHY do you like us?
Many places we have gone to war with, and even some of the ones we have gone to war to save... seem to hate us
But our nations engaged in some of what is arguably the most horrific warfare in human history to that date, and it's not like you got space away from us or our culture afterwards to gain peace over it
why don't you hate us like the Germans do? Or the french? or on most days, half of the British?
I'm VERY happy about it, and grateful, but I have always wondered what the difference is
I know much of it for us is "We had a problem, we settled it, now there's not a problem"... kind of the "2 dudes fight on the playground and end up best friends" thing

@rootport Glad to see the east coast getting some love in our cross-cultural culinary love-fest. If you come to New England, we have clam chowder, lobster, fried clams, and of course, oysters!

これはニューヨークに行ったときに食べた牡蠣。じつはアメリカ北部州(いわゆる東海岸)では牡蠣は歴史的・文化的にとても重要な食材で、今でもマンハッタンには生牡蠣を提供する店がごまんとある。

Rootport🔥@rootport
ここ最近バズっているアメリカのバーベキューは南部州の伝統らしいのだけど、これに対抗して北部州の方々には自慢のピザを見せていただきたい。あるいは、牡蠣を始めとしたシーフード。

@syukujo3111 Is that odd square pan specifically built for tonkatsu?
English

@HitGarageDoor @yakumo_nyann @akevittnvg Awareness after the strike. After you follow through with the strike, you have to turn around and keep your eye on the opponent.
English

@yakumo_nyann @akevittnvg what is "zanshin"?
English

@ikazuchizoku @i_kaseki Do you guys actually call yourselves “yellow”? That’s a big no-no in America.
English

@BrigitteOhNo Cook it in a pan with garlic and ginger, and a splash of sherry and maybe some soy sauce. (Don't forget salt). Serve over rice.

Only in Japan is "stuck in a room where you can't leave until you have sex" some sort of culturally-common reference point, the same way that "high school prom" is for America.
This is because Japan like France has a priest-like class of perverts that direct culture.

@bluewmist Bose noise cancelling headphones. You have no idea how much noise there is in the world!

@Maelzel_opening As a Californian, I don't have access to good southern BBQ, but our selection of Asian food is world class.
English

@JPMlndz @kuma_neko_ Never heard of it! Sort of like jambalaya?
English

@kuma_neko_ So do we!
This is called, “Chicken Bog”, and you can’t find it in any restaurant!
It is only made in the homes of South Carolina!

English

@ThrillaRilla369 It's no joke. I had a house fire. I'll never sleep naked again.
English

@Locus_Solus3303 Yes! Its very popular here in the US! Some restaurants whole appeal is that they specialize in the flavor. We even had a burger chain called "umami burger"
English

@FUTOCHIMPO Dude this image will live forever in internet fame!!!
English

@DBZYuYuYasha @Acyn I just want to see him take that dementia test.
English

@Acyn Cool. He should be able to do that publicly then. Somebody ask him to draw a map of the Middle East from memory.
English

@AlabasterApu @i_kaseki Damn, you got a nice char on that steak!!!
English

@i_kaseki Normal American meal cooked at my home. We often eat large pieces of grilled meat. Sometimes 3 to 4 times per week. This is beef, but it’s often chicken. The large white mound on the steak is a compound butter with herbs.

English

@tekarin I actually knew that already, but it is endlessly amusing to me.
English

@FUTOCHIMPO This is exactly what I look like when I see bacon! (Less jacked, though)
