Some reasons why cooking is overwhelming for many:
-To cook each cuisine requires different base set of spices, staples, etc
-Popular recipes often include obscure, expensive ingredients
-Purchasing exact item amts often not possible
-Utilizing rest of perishable food challenging

OMG. You need salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Keep onions and garlic in the house but the powders will do.
Choose your protein (chicken, fish, beef, pork, whatever). Pat dry with towels. SPOG on both sides. Put foil on a sheet pan and spray it with nonstick spray. Throw the meat on it and put it in the oven. Add a splash of lemon juice if it's fish.
Toss broccoli or green beans with olive oil or butter and salt and put it in a dish in the same oven. Make pasta or rice or pillsbury rolls (in the same oven). Make a salad.
If this takes you more than 30 total minutes include prepping, it's a skill issue.
I got this cookbook for my bridal shower 18+ years ago. It has never failed me. Many easy and delicious meals in here. Decent food does not need to be complicated.

No idea what's going on with this "cost of lunch" discourse. I paid $5 for all this just a couple months ago at a bar in rural Upstate NY. Two mini-burgers + pickle for $1 2 pickled eggs for $1 Labatt Blue $2 Tip $1 I get this meal fairly often. Y'all suck at being poor lol

Stephen makes such a good and important point about translation: none is ever a perfect representation of the original work. Regardless of the choices the translator makes, they are "fated" to fail to perfectly communicate the author's intent.
The only way to completely get that intent is to read the original, and even then you are limited by your cultural and temporal distance from the author's society.
But if you still want to read the original—and I do!—then you can read the Odyssey on Kevilex.com 😀
