Only in Japan is "stuck in a room where you can't leave until you have sex" some sort of culturally-common reference point, the same way that "high school prom" is for America.
This is because Japan like France has a priest-like class of perverts that direct culture.

@bluewmist Bose noise cancelling headphones. You have no idea how much noise there is in the world!
English

@Maelzel_opening As a Californian, I don't have access to good southern BBQ, but our selection of Asian food is world class.
English

@kuma_neko_ So do we!
This is called, “Chicken Bog”, and you can’t find it in any restaurant!
It is only made in the homes of South Carolina!

English

@ThrillaRilla369 It's no joke. I had a house fire. I'll never sleep naked again.
English

@Locus_Solus3303 Yes! Its very popular here in the US! Some restaurants whole appeal is that they specialize in the flavor. We even had a burger chain called "umami burger"
English

@FUTOCHIMPO Dude this image will live forever in internet fame!!!
English

@DBZYuYuYasha @Acyn I just want to see him take that dementia test.
English

@Acyn Cool. He should be able to do that publicly then. Somebody ask him to draw a map of the Middle East from memory.
English

@AlabasterApu @i_kaseki Damn, you got a nice char on that steak!!!
English

@i_kaseki Normal American meal cooked at my home. We often eat large pieces of grilled meat. Sometimes 3 to 4 times per week. This is beef, but it’s often chicken. The large white mound on the steak is a compound butter with herbs.

English

@tekarin I actually knew that already, but it is endlessly amusing to me.
English

@FUTOCHIMPO This is exactly what I look like when I see bacon! (Less jacked, though)
English

@embryosophy Are you missing the wholesome Japanese BBQ discourse?
English

@joeblow87423561 @Halalcoholism Yep. And he doesn’t get the joke. It’s not that he talks funny, it’s that he’s a food snob complaining about foreigners messing up his home cuisine. Hey-yah!
English

@docscarabus @Halalcoholism That doesn't really change much. An Asian guy playing up a real accent from his own country is zero percent racist.
The other guy acts like he's some intellectual, offering his deep analysis, yet fails to mention the guy is using his country's real accent? It's braindead.
English

Many Asian-Americans are weird about Uncle Roger, partly due to a chip on their shoulder other Asians don’t have, but also there just aren’t many Malaysians in the US. So they hear a wildly over-the-top Chinese accent, rather than a slightly exaggerated Malaysian uncle voice.

When racism isn't actually racism
English

@tekarin Very wholesome. It’s common among American foodies to denigrate the California roll as “inauthentic”, but it’s a delicious and inexpensive use of local ingredients !
English

@docscarabus Yes, there are no fried onion and mayo-based or spicy sauces on Japanese sushi.
Sometimes I miss American rolls like California roll and Dragon roll.
English

@ChrisAlvino Yeah! All this antisex discourse already happened in the 80s. Read Dworkin’s “Intercourse.”
English

@sappy_sappho1 “Oh you’re a super genius over achiever? Must be a retard.”
English

what? the r word would make zero sense in that context
ashley ray@theashleyray
im so sorry but the pitt clearly being too afraid to put the r word in the script is funny
English

@Rozell6James @planefag We had a Korean guy show up to our BBQ with a batch of Galbi. We all loved it!
English

@planefag I want to see what kind of side dishes a Japanese guy would bring to a bbq
English

One thing I hope everyone in Japan understands; the invitations to join Americans in their BBQ cookouts are sincere. Westerners have a tradition of hospitality similar to Japan's, and it would be a delight to reciprocate the hospitality Japan has shown us.

@usoikanokaisou Dying to find out what an imo-ni gathering is!
English

リプ欄でバーベキュー派閥争いが起きてる……そうか、アメリカにおけるBBQとは我が国における芋煮会だったんだな。

@joeblow87423561 @Halalcoholism That’s not his real accent. He speaks pretty much standard English, but he’s imitating his Malaysian countrymen. (Although he says it’s not far from how he spoke when he first came to England)
English

@Halalcoholism I didn't even know this was a thing, didn't even think it could be a thing.
Asian guy speaks English with thick Asian accent, because... that's how he talks.
Another Asian takes great offence at this disgusting racism.
Okay, lol.
