Ian Wright is an absolute hero for saying how we all feel about this World Cup… “I've just read that the Somalian referee has been denied entry. Every few hours it's another story, another story about fans denied, players denied, officials denied, journalists denied, now refs," Wright said. "You know something I'm laughing but it's not funny, it's actually not funny and something has to be said. "The expensive tickets, the most expensive tickets ever, expensive accommodation, transport through the roof. It has to be said. "Is this how the hosts behave really for the greatest game, the greatest tournament in the world, is this how the hosts behave? "Are we not hearing more? Are we seeing how Qatar got dragged, are we not hearing more? Is this the spirit of football, really? "You know who I feel for? I feel for the American fans who are desperate for this, American soccer fans who are desperate for this, how embarrassed they must be. How embarrassing for them this must be. "This is the World Cup, this is a World Cup of chaos. Whoever wins this World Cup is going to have to go through some serious chaos to get this done. "I hope we can do it, but something has to be said now. This is the World Cup."

I don't think attending a live World Cup match is in the cards for me. Might have to check out the Decatur fan fest instead. Even tickets to watch USA vs Australia in the Dome at COSM are $200.

I'm a cardiologist. I've held dying hearts in my hands in the cath lab at 3 AM. And I need to tell you something that changes everything about how we prevent heart attacks. For decades, the entire field was built on one target: lower LDL cholesterol. Statins save lives — that's settled science. But too many of my patients did everything right — took their statins, hit their numbers, lived clean — and still ended up on my table with a ruptured artery. We were treating the smoke while the fire kept burning. The fire is inflammation. And the evidence is now overwhelming. The CANTOS trial proved it first — lowering inflammation independent of cholesterol reduced cardiac events. But the newer data is what keeps me up at night. AI-enhanced CT angiography can now detect inflamed arteries by measuring changes in the fat surrounding your coronary vessels — the perivascular fat attenuation index. Higher inflammation in the fat around even one artery independently predicts cardiac death. When multiple arteries show inflammation, the risk multiplies dramatically — even in patients whose cholesterol looks perfect. This isn't theoretical. This is measurable. Right now. On a scan you can get this month. Low-dose colchicine — a drug that's been around for centuries for gout — is now FDA-approved specifically for reducing cardiovascular events. It works by quieting the inflammatory cascade that destabilizes the plaque sitting in your arteries. A pill that costs pennies is saving lives the statins couldn't reach. And the next wave is already in Phase 3 trials. Ziltivekimab — an IL-6 inhibitor — targets the central inflammatory pathway driving atherosclerosis. Phase 2 data showed a 90% reduction in hsCRP. The ZEUS cardiovascular outcomes trial is enrolling now, with results expected late 2026 into 2027. If positive, anti-inflammatory therapy will become standard in managing heart disease alongside lipid-lowering. The era of inflammation-targeted cardiology is arriving. But it goes deeper than drugs. AI is now predicting heart failure and cardiac events 5+ years before symptoms — integrating CT imaging, electronic health records, and genetic data with accuracy that jumps far beyond traditional risk calculators. And polygenic risk scores — a simple genetic test that flags inherited cardiovascular risk — are now formally recognized as a risk-enhancing factor in the 2026 ACC/AHA guidelines. A single blood draw can reveal risk that's been silently building since birth. Decades before the first chest pain. Here's what this means for you right now — today: Ask your doctor for a high-sensitivity CRP test. It's cheap, routine, and measures the systemic inflammation that standard cholesterol panels completely miss. You can have perfect LDL and inflamed arteries that are quietly preparing to rupture. If your hsCRP is elevated, discuss low-dose colchicine with your physician. It's FDA-approved for exactly this. Push for a coronary CT angiography with AI plaque and inflammation analysis if you have risk factors. This isn't the stress test your parents got. This is 3D visualization of your actual arteries — with AI quantifying not just how much plaque you have, but what kind it is and whether the surrounding tissue is inflamed. Consider polygenic risk score testing — especially with a family history of early heart disease. It's now guideline-supported. And the foundation that never changes: move daily, eat real food, sleep 7-9 hours, manage stress, and know your numbers — ApoB, Lp(a), hsCRP, fasting insulin. I left Iran as a child with nothing. I rebuilt everything in a country that gave me the freedom to become a physician. I've spent twenty years watching patients get second chances. The ones who haunt me aren't the ones who died on my table. They're the ones who survived but never acted on what the science was telling them — years before the event that didn't have to happen. You can have perfect cholesterol and still have a heart attack. Inflammation plus genetics can drive plaque rupture in arteries that look "fine" on a standard panel. The myth that normal cholesterol means you're safe has cost more lives than I can count. We now have the tools to detect the fire — not just the smoke. AI to see it. Genetics to predict it. Drugs to quiet it. And the ancient basics — movement, real food, sleep, purpose — to prevent it from starting. Prevention is the new cure. And the science to make it real is no longer coming. It's here.

I get the hate towards the World Cup prices and how it’s pricing out “real fans.” So does that mean that if you are rich you can’t be a real fan? I’m so confused.

Tyler Adams was asked how he feels about USMNT legends such as Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, Tim Howard, and etc being critical of the team. Adams sees no issues with it. In fact, he likes it even more because it shows people care. He was speaking to The Late Run recently. 🗣️ “I'm happy they have these expectations for us,” Adams said. “Because I think they see the same thing that we see in ourselves, that we're a bunch of talented players. “Now we got to bring it together and have success, and you know, for me, it's on the biggest stage you have to do that. “Everyone thinks that this thing of expectation and criticism is a bad thing. But like, if we're worth talking about, it’s a good thing. You know what I mean? “Before, I think people wouldn't even talk about the national team or talk about the players on it. Now we're making waves at some of the biggest clubs around the world. “Like, people want to talk about us. That's fine. That's what comes with the business, man. “So I think for me, it's about now showing up at this World Cup and really putting something on display that people are happy of.”

Agents are crooks. List your house yourself !!! I just made this mistake , gifting a listing to a friend who my sister said could use the money. She os horrible. I got an offer in hours without her even showing up to the viewing. She said “ i got you the offer.” I was like bitch, two years of labor renovating that thing to the tee got the offer. All you did was . Put a padlock on the door

I walked into an open house today as a potential buyer for a $400,000 house. That’s a $12,000 commission. The agent never got my name. He met us at the door, made small talk, then went and sat down and played on his phone. My wife and I came in with our two kids. We were the only group there. He had nothing stopping him from giving us his full attention. As we walked around we gave buying signals left and right. My daughter even picked out her room. On the way out I asked about school zones. He grabbed a flyer with unrelated info, shrugged, and let us walk. What he didn’t do? Ask our name, why were were in the market, our timeline, or even try to get our contact info to follow up and do any of that later. We handed him every buying signal a family can give. He didn’t pick up one. My lesson from this: The bar is so low. The agents who show up prepared aren’t just doing their job. They’re inheriting everyone else’s leads.

MLS is poor at attracting American soccer fans who wake up every Saturday morning at 7am to watch hours of European football, and that’s an audience they need to capture in this country. The last thing they should do is make the sport unrecognizable to the rest of the world.
Pablo Iglesias Maurer@MLSist

NEW: MLS has had preliminary discussions with IFAB about potentially trialing the use of a stopped clock during matches, a potentially fundamental, massive change to the laws of the game. I have more on the Guardian, w/@MattHughesMedia: theguardian.com/football/2026/…

MLS NEXT just told players they can't play high school soccer starting 2026-27. A 16-year-old now has to choose between their school team and their club pathway. The justification is 'development calendar control.' The reality is a league telling families they own the player's schedule. No written development plan included with that demand. If you're going to take away a kid's choice, you owe them receipts on what they're getting instead.

@fishchris76 @theawayfans They can’t do this because they wouldn’t agree, which is why players rightfully complain about inconsistency. It seems like if you try to make it better, you end up pausing to review every single substantive thing that happens. It’s tough to solve.

German referee Patrick Ittrich has suggested making the following changes to football's rules: 1) "For a tactical foul in midfield, a free-kick should be awarded 17 metres from goal. How often will we see such fouls then?" 2) "If the player rolls on the floor three times and needs a doctor, get him one and make him wait on the sideline for 3 minutes. How quickly do you think the player will stand up?" 3) "If a player insults the referee, send them off for 10 minutes to calm down. Go cycling to warm up before coming back in. We can learn from handball in that respect." 4) "How is a referee surrounded by 10 men after a decision? In my opinion, boom, boom, boom — three red cards. Play seven against ten now. That'd be fine by me."
