@TheoLynch2 @Matysek88 that was white belt level BJJ. rule 1 is don't get lifted, transition to a leg. It's the equivalent of standing in front of a punch with your hands down and saying boxing doesnt work. Just because someone does something very badly, doesnt negate a very effective martial art

I feel like the UFC doesn’t realize how denying guys like Movsar hurts the product. At a certain point, you will have to give him a title shot, and if he somehow wins, you’ll have a champion that already beat the contenders before the belt was even in play.

Remember when @SStricklandMMA was supposed to have zero chance of beating Adesanye? I’m hearing the same talk now for his chances verse @KChimaev. Styles make fights. Sean has great success against Izzy as his forward pressure crossing the void without blitzing left Izzy unable to implement his counter strike style. Khamzat’s Achillis heel is his cardio. No amount of training will change that as he is explosive by nature. You get one or the other. If he’s not fighting at his own pace, on top and controlling, he will fade. Sean’s problem in this matchup is his teep kick will be very hard use without offering a free takedown to grappler. If he can land it, the cardio bar will no doubt be affected on khamzat in the later rounds. Sean’s upright stance does also leave openings for takedowns, but can he defend or get off he ground is the real question. If he can avoid being controlled for rounds 1-2 and forces at least 40%+ of the fight standing, odds for Sean rise dramatically from 3-5. We haven’t seen khamzat in rounds 4-5 where competition can defend even some of his grappling. His only 5 round fight he was in cruise control. There’s are multiple 3 round scenarios where his cardio died when the opponent was not overwhelmed by the grappling and the fight eventually became striking as the cardio waned. Sean will start a big underdog, but if spending less than 5 minutes on the ground out of the first 10minutes, the odds swing back in his favour.

Tbf wrestling is needed if you want to wrestle. If you want to submission grapple, you want entries to the back and to be able to get their hands to the mat. Oliviera is perfect example. He got body lock takedowns on max, but his go to is a single entry - body lock - back take. He very rarely relies on getting a takedown. Just needs time to defend and he goes straight to the back. So if you’re a bjj guy why waste the energy finishing a wrestling takedown ? Charles wastes very little energy on his entries

I hope the wrestling scene gets a bit bigger in the UK in the next few years Americans in the UFC who are predominantly strikers and will pretty much never look to wrestle in their game, will be able to defend takedowns from a British ‘grappler’ 9/10 because we’re all BJJ and they just know how to wrestle by default

UFC needed to pay low early on to survive and make the industry what it is, but now it is tome to step it up. Would attract better athletes and more Americans which is needed. TKO owns both the UFC and Zuffa Boxing. 🥊 Zuffa Boxng paid Conor Benn $15 million for one fight. 🥋 The UFC offered Jon Jones that same $15 million to headline the White House card. Jones declined. So out of curiosity, I ran some numbers. Used Benn’s $15 mil as the baseline and compared: 📊 Social (2M vs 10M) 🏆 World titles (0 vs 3) 🛡️ Defenses (0 vs 12) 🥊 Champs beaten (0 vs 9) 📺 Event scale Jones clears across the board. The multipliers in the graphic are not meant to stack. They show how much he leads in each category. I blended them with weighting and applied risk-adjusted discounts, such as Jones history, recent inactivity, etc. That still lands Jones somewhere around 1.7x to 3.3x Benn’s contract. 💰 Roughly $25 mil to $50 mil And yes, I understand that Zuffa Boxing is very new and they may have to overpay early. I also understand Turki Alalshikh and SELA are funding Benn’s purse, not TKO directly. But either way, Benn is still being valued at $15 mil as a Zuffa Boxng signed fighter.
