@Sharkmare @cannibality Depends on the time scale. A movie is a one-time energy cost. A datacenter is continuous. If Moltbook only runs for a few weeks or months (until the hype is over), its total energy use can be similar to or lower than producing a movie.

@lukeburgis Literally, dumbest thing ever the way people are reacting to it. Its probably a well devised architecture and implementation of llms and orchestration layers with api's but beyond that its literally nothing. Its no different than going and asking any llm to make a story for you

If you actually understand how LLM's work, you understand that that none of this stuff is real from an existential or emotional standpoint—and the fascination over it, while totally understandable, begins to seem a bit silly when you realize that it's pure Reddit mimesis. Interested what @alexisohanian thinks about it all, though. I'm more interested in what it says about mimesis, and mimetic desire—and ultimately what it reveals about us, as humans. A lot of anthropomorphizing going on right now, though.

@_necropheus @josefbender_ It's much less than 1ms to check for some status codes as in the given example. So for this use case it just does not matter. Even though using set has similar syntax and would probably be the better fit. But I guess its better to optimize hot paths than perfecting 404 filters😉

@josefbender_ There are always tradeoffs If it's just one time in one component that gets called maybe 1 to 3 times in your app, sure, go ahead But 1ms performance in a component that gets called 100 times is 1/10s, and saying 100 is being generous in large scale projects

Wer Desktop Anwendung in web-tech stacks schreibt ist ein schlechter Mensch. Es ist moralisch bedingungslos zu verurteilen. Keine Ausnahme. Viele gerade jüngere Menschen haben nicht den Hauch einer Vorstellung wie schnell moderne Rechner _eigentlich_ sind.

Es ist 4x5. Die Regel ist simpel „Wie oft mal Was“, also 4 Hände mal 5 Finger. Kommutativgesetz-posing klingt sicher toll, und ja, Arithmetik kapiert, aber die Benutzung von Mathe nicht. Der Arzt verschreibt dir 3x1 Tablette. Nimmst du stattdessen 1x3, ist das mathematisch zwar das Gleiche, aber du landest in der Notaufnahme. Semantik schlägt Syntax.

Nein. Mathematisch ist 5+5+5+5 weder strukturell noch terminologisch dasselbe wie 5x4. Es hat dasselbe Ergebnis, ist aber ein anderer Term. Multiplikation ist eine Verkürzung einer Reihenaddition. Sie ist klar definiert nach Multiplikator und Multiplikant. Es tut mir ja leid, aber es ist so.
