@jamcoe @Budgetdog_ You don't have to talk before he makes a trade if the firm has discretion, which it sounds like he doesn't. What's the hurdle on the value for you? Because it's only investments or just because a lot of you could probably do yourself?

A personal home is NOT an investment

I pay a guy to keep his eyes on it. I’m directly involved in single company equity buys, he handles the ETFs. I’m on the fence if it’s worth it. He’s slow to act due to the fact I’m not his only client. Makes sense. I hate the fiduciary rules where we have to talk before he can make a trade rather than act off of a text. It’s a whole thing.

Strong take. The easiest way to know if something is an investment or not is whether you’d sell it to make a profit when if all things were the same you would not. Most people aren’t selling their homes sitting on a 500% gain right now. Therefore most homes aren’t investments for folks.
