I just don’t understand why they wouldn’t wait for @seppkuss - I’ve watched Sepp ride for them countless times while commentating these past years, I’m a huge fan of his. He’s class. I didn’t enjoy watching that today, and I love bike racing, it made me feel 😞😡 #notclass

@normonics This decline is beautifully captured in this delightful book by @MrTimMoore describing his road trip across the red states in a malfunctioning T-Ford. Help is never far away, Boomers have the tools and skills to keep such things going. But they're on their way out.

I'm really wondering what happens when the boomers age out finally. It's going to manifest rapidly in the next few years. There are handy young folks around us, but not at replacement level...

The Tour goes up the Col de Marie-Blanque today. Recounting the agonies I endured climbing it on my French Revolutions ride, I wrote 'I coughed up iron and vinegar and flobbed it feebly on to my forearm.' My editor scribbled 'Absolutely disgusting' beside these words on the draft

@mrtimmoore @MegaHeid ETA "French Revolutions" is best of oeuvre, but the others are also top notch, esp. "The Cyclist Who Went Out in the Cold." "Spanish Steps"/ "Travels with My Donkey" is also great but not a cycling book. Don't miss Shinto, the Bedford van, the Swiss muleteer, Total Shithouse.
