@Porkchop_EXP Ok aparently its a bit dramatized. They defueled the cores, shipped the fuel to interim storage, were banned from buying new fuel, and decontaminated the primary loop. that basically makes restarting exceedingly difficult, tower blowup and cutting up the core comes a bit later

The last German nuclear reactor shut down less than a year ago, but Germany can’t restart them. Why, you’re asking? Because they blew up the cooling towers and filled the reactor core with concrete.

@Dvolni @DellAnnaLuca Endless back and forth dealing with notaries and lawyers in Greece (email/phone from NL), slow responses, and rewrites to include copious amounts of detail on what assets/actions fall within the POA. While in NL I could get a blanket coverage for all things financial.

A personal anecdote with insights into Italy’s productivity woes: Two weeks ago, I had to request some paperwork related to a family member who recently died. I had to drive 90 minute to go to the Court and file a request (no online procedure, and the procedure couldn’t be done in the Court close to where I live). They told me to come back on 25 May to collect it. (No mail delivery option.) Today, I drove another 90 minutes, and they told me “it’s not ready yet, maybe next week.” They had my contacts, they knew that today I would lose half a working day (1h30x2 drive, 30 min wait, 30 min parking etc) to come to collect that paper, and they didn’t bother letting me know it would be a wasted trip. No respect for citizens’ time, let alone their working time. Italy’s productivity woes are also this, unnecessarily lengthy interactions with the government downstream incompetence and lack of care.

@wrathofgnon I think there would be a small army of young men willing to PARTICIPATE in building this again, even if it takes 50 years.

I would watch a 50hr documentary of this being built again, today.
