I really don't think the rent control/minimum wage analogy really makes sense:
- What's the rent control equivalent of Card Krueger 1996?
- Labor markets and housing markets are *really* different. Labor markets don't clear!

It’s a lot like the arguments against raising the minimum wage. It turned out that the fears of economic collapse were poppycock. Note that it was low-wage workers and tenants who were the victims of the economists.

And vice versa, smart thing to do would be focusing on preaching to the wavering, hesitant, non-converted. Who can change (or just take) decision last minute for literally whatever reason. Or for no particular reason at all, just because of the vibes.

To be fair, "weird" is indeed a weak form of name calling. Compare it with how Trump is nicknaming his opponents. "Crooked", "Lying", "Sleepy".
The latter is much, much stronger, rhetorically speaking. And it certainly does better with the swinging, wavering audience.
